"Hey there fellow Stamp-A-Faire loving friends!! How have you been loving all of the fun so far? I am so humbled and honored to be a contributing part of this year’s festivities and I can’t wait to show you my project with the American 2nd Year Traditional Gift… Cotton. Warning though! There is GLITTER involved! If you have a vacuum, get it now. ;) Cotton typically symbolizes strength and versatility and I am thrilled to show you a fun way to use some “ordinary” around the house cotton and turn it into an adorable and super festive birthday or celebration card. - Pull apart your cotton. Dilute your Pink paint if needed and dye your cotton. Set aside to dry.
- Cut a square of White Cardstock to 3.5 x 3.5 inches. Cut in half from one corner to the other. Round with your fingers and then adhere in a small cone shape. Trim top edges.
- Pull some of the dried cotton apart and mold into a cotton candy puff shape. Place inside your cone. Add more cotton if necessary to create a full cotton candy cone shape. Set aside.
- Cut a rectangle of White Cardstock to 4.5 x 3.5 inches.
- If creating solid glitter panel - spray the entire piece with spray adhesive and sprinkle glitter all over it. Press it down with fingers and set it aside to dry. *I recommend doing this outside the home and inside a cardboard box.
- If creating striped glitter panel - place 0.5 inch Scor Tape in stripes across the entire cardstock panel. Sprinkle glitter on each stripe and press down with fingers and set aside to dry.
- To prevent the glitter from constantly spreading everywhere, once the panels are dry, use Glossy Accents over the top of the glitter stripes or a gel medium such as Liquitex and let dry. These will dry with a clear, gloss, that will prevent any glitter from falling off.
- Cut a panel of Limeade Ice Cardstock to 5 x 3.75 inches. Adhere your glitter panel to the front of it using Scor Tape.
- Adhere that panel to the front of a horizontal A2 card base using dimensional adhesive.
- Tie a piece of Pink Pom Pom Trim to the left side of the card base.
- Tie a piece of Seam Binding to the top of the pink knot and scrunch the ends using a bit of water.
- Die cut Big Basics: Just For You from white cardstock and adhere to the top of the card base using TomBow Mono Liquid Glue.
- Adhere your cone of “cotton candy” below the sentiment.
- PAPER: Stampers Select White, Limeade Ice
- DIES: Big Basics: Just For You
- OTHER: Cotton Balls or Coil, Pink Paint/Watercolor/Reinker, Water, Spray Adhesive, 0.5 inch Scor Tape, 0.25 inch Scor Tape, Iridescent Glitter, Pink Pom Pom Trim, Seam Binding, Tombow Mono Liquid Glue, Glossy Accents or Liquitex Gel Medium, Scissors, Foam Dimensional Adhesive
- Now it's your turn! Create a project featuring colored cotton. You can choose to re-create the exact project from Stephanie above or design your own using the same concepts. Your project must also incorporate at least one Papertrey product.
