We are pleased to introduce an exclusive presentation from Rebecca Luminarias.
"Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share my Stamp-A-Faire project with you! My Anniversary material is PAPER, and if you’ve been following my monthly Packaging Ambassador posts on Nichole’s blog, then you probably know I LOVE using all kinds of other materials on my packages. So, when I snagged the assignment to create something special with paper for SAF, I challenged myself to come up with a project made with 90% paper! I’m showing you some easy paper embellishments to make, and after you’ve made them, I’ve got 2 easy examples of ways to use them. I hope you’ll join me as we celebrate all things PAPER!"
Dyed Paper Leaves
- Pour 1 cup boiling water into a bowl, add 4-6 drops of ink refill (less for lighter shades, more for darker); stir well
- Submerge die cut leaf into colored water; hold for 30-60 seconds (*for an ombre effect, only partially dip the shape in color)
- Let dry
Fringe Tassels
- Trim 1.75” x 4” length of cardstock
- Using scissors, “fringe” cut the length of the cardstock, leaving .25” uncut at top
- When all cuts have been made, begin at one end and tightly roll paper lengthwise
- Apply liquid glue to the inside of a tassel cap (I used Fabri-Tac, but hot glue will work, as well)
- Insert cap over top (uncut portion) of rolled tassel; let dry
Paper Strip Bows
- Cut several thin strips of card stock (roughly 1-2cm x 8”)
- Gather and line up strips (I used 3 for each bow I made)
- Hold bundle with thumb in the center; fold over one end to make a loop, then make another loop by folding over the opposite end
- Wind another thin paper strip around the midsection of the bow, about 3 times, then glue into place; trim excess
- Round the bow loops with your fingers, and mold bow ends into place until you achieve your ideal bow
- *Optional: Instead of securing pieces with a paper strip, substitute thread
Confetti Envelopes
- Cut several thin strips of card stock (roughly 1-2cm x 8”)
- Snip tiny pieces, approximately ½” in length (gather several strips to cut at once for faster work)
- Corral the trimmed bits in your envelope, seal closed
- Give the envelope a couple shakes or taps to evenly disperse the confetti
Sample Gift Wrap #1
- Cut 2 more leaves from Tropics Die from White cardstock
- Adhere trio of leaves (including Raspberry Fizz dyed leaf) to gift box; I use 1-2 small glue dots to keep the elements from looking too flat
- String black baker’s twine through 1 Limeade Ice and 1 White fringe tassel
- Carefully secure baker’s twine behind dyed leaf (with only one glue dot holding the leaf in place, this is not as difficult as it may sound!); trim off excess length of twine
- Adhere Raspberry Fizz paper strip bow just above the tops of the tassels
- Die cut “happiest birthday wishes” out of White stock, stamp sentiment in Limeade Ice Ink; adhere to box with foam dots for dimension
Sample Gift Wrap #2
- Crisscross 2 thin strips of Raspberry Fizz cardstock (cut to 1-2cm x 8.5”) over the top of the gift box, creating a narrow X; secure ends to the bottom of the box using a tape runner
- Adhere confetti envelope to the front of the box with a glue dot
- Die cut “congrats” from white cardstock; stamp sentiment in Raspberry Fizz Ink; adhere to confetti bag with a glue dot
- Add Limeade Ice paper strip bow to confetti bag with a glue dot
- STAMPS: Tropics
- INK: Limeade Ice, Raspberry Fizz, Raspberry Fizz refill, assorted ink refill colors
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Raspberry Fizz, Limeade Ice, assorted colors of cardstock, watercolor paper
- DIES: Tropics, Tropics Sentiments
- OTHER: liquid glue, tassel caps, scissors, thread, small transparent envelopes or bags, small or medium sized gift boxes, glue dots, foam dots, baker's twine, 2"x2" glassine envelope
