Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
My first project is a really simple approach to Heather's new Give Love set. I stamped some of the sentiments from the set and then heat embossed the large bird over them.
I sponged ink over the embossing to help highlight the edges of the bird image and add depth.
These sweet flowers are also included in the set. I die-cut them from vellum and colored the back of them with a marker then stamped the centers.
- STAMPS: Give Love (available July 15th)
- INK: Melon Berry, Ocean Tides
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Soft Stone, Vellum Cardstock
- DIES: Give Love dies
- OTHER: Filigree Clear Embossing Powder, Copic Marker, Clear Jewels, ink blending tool
Watercoloring makes it so easy to create great projects and the new Cover Up background sets from Dawn make it even easier.
I heat embossed the background then watercolored over it to bring out the pattern. The flower was heat embossed and watercolored in the same way.
This little banner is tied onto the stem and features my selected sentiment.
- STAMPS: Cover Up: Quatrefoil, Stemmed Statements (available July 15th)
- INK: VersaMark, Smokey Shadow
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White
- DIES: Stemmed Statements die
- OTHER: ZIG True Color Brush Markers, Watercolor Brush, White Filigree Embossing Powder, Baker's Twine
The new In the Shadows set from Betsy is one of those basics that you can turn to again and again. They are the perfect way to ground any kind of image in almost any scale. Here I have used two of the shadows with the new Give Love bird.
The sentiment was stamped in the lower corner with a sentiment strip containing the companion sentiment.
I was able to get a two-tone effect on the bird by inking it with Summer Sunrise then adding a little Canyon Clay inking to the upper portion.
- STAMPS: Give Love (available July 15th)
- INK: Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Terracotta Tile, Cocoa Bean, Aqua Mist
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Canyon Clay, Classic Kraft
Dawn's new Cover Up: Diamonds stamp works beautifully with ink blending. Talk about an easy card!
After embossing the pattern and blending the inks over it, I cut the panel in half and added the sentiment to the opening.
You could recreate the same card in almost any color scheme!
- STAMPS: Cover Up: Diamonds, Keep It Simple: Okay (available July 15th)
- INK: Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores, True Black
- PAPER: Stamper's Select White
- OTHER: White Filigree Embossing Powder, ink blending tool
My lat project for today uses the Cover Up: Diamonds again, this time in a fun modern way.
After stamping the background in white, I colored a few select areas with Copics.
The random nature of the coloring gives this stamped pattern a whole new look.
- STAMPS: Cover Up: Diamonds, Infinity Frames Sentiments (available July 15th)
- INK: Fresh Snow, True Black
- PAPER: Classic Kraft, Stamper's Select White
- DIES: Infinity Frames die
- OTHER: Copic markers
Heather Nichols is joining me today, featuring Give Love and In the Shadows.
The extra large branch image included in the new Give Love set is the perfect scale to coordinate with the bird. The ink colors that Heather selected for this particular project are gorgeous, especially what she blended together for the bird in particular.
- STAMPS: Give Love
- INK: True Black, Fresh Snow, Cocoa Bean, Prairie Grass, Ocean Tides, Canyon Clay
- PAPER: Classic Kraft, Ocean Tides
- OTHER: clear confetti (Pretty Pink Posh)
These little ovals from In the Shadows were just the thing for grounding these two birds in a simple and clean way so that the hearts did not get lost in the background. I also love the addition of the little speckles.
- STAMPS: Give Love, In the Shadows
- INK: True Black, Fine Linen, Classic Kraft, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides
- PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Pure Poppy
- DIES: Give Love, Noted: Scalloped A2
The birds are just the right size to fill a tag, perfect for keeping on hand to add to special gifts and bags. The flower and leaves are a great accent to help add balance to each tag.
- STAMPS: Give Love, In the Shadows
- INK: Cocoa Bean, Classic Kraft, Canyon Clay, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Prairie Grass
- PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Ocean Tides, Prairie Grass
- DIES: Give Love, Basic Cut Tag
- OTHER: aqua twine
Michelle Leone is joining me today, featuring Cover Up: Quatrefoil and Diamonds.
The geometric pattern in contrast with the delicate and detailed blooms is very striking on Michelle's tag set here.
The bold colors really grab your attention. I love how she added the additional pop of color with the sentiment, echoing a color found in the main floral.
- STAMPS: Cover Up: Diamonds, Stemmed Statements
- INKS: Pure Poppy, Amethyst Allure, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise, Smokey Shadow
- PAPER: Stampers Select White, Smokey Shadow
- DIES: Stemmed Statements, Tag Sale #10
- OTHER: White embossing powder, misc. twine (gray, white)
Pink and aqua are always so pretty together, and that is showcased with her next project. Note that Michelle used three pops of Smokey Shadow for balance, the stamped branches, the thin cardstock border and the sentiment.
- STAMPS: Cover Up: Quatrefoil, Give Love
- INKS: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow
- PAPER: Stampers Select White, Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow
- DIES: Give Love
- OTHER: Misc. enamel dots, Nuvo crystal drops (black, pink), A Muse Slate ink
The quatrefoil heat embossed in gold is just gorgeous and pairs up wonderfully with the greens and yellows in this project. The die-cut stitching detail around the edge of the card helps to connect the florals and sentiment with background.
- STAMPS: Cover Up: Quatrefoil, Give Love
- INK:: Simply Chartreuse, Fresh Snow
- PAPER: Classic Kraft, Simply Chartreuse
- DIES: Give Love, Ways to Say: Congratulations
- OTHER: Misc. enamel dots, Gold and White embossing powders, Stitched Rectangle die
