2009 was a year full of memorable headline news...
In April of this exciting year British television viewers watched a middle-aged Scottish woman astonish a live audience (and difficult-to-impress judge Simon Cowell) with a rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" on Britain's Got Talent. Days later, YouTube users in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world wept for joy at Susan Boyle's storybook success of the simple woman with the bushy eyebrows and crystal-clear voice.

The death of the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson, brings worldwide outpourings of grief. He is considered one of the most successful entertainers of all time. It took Captain Chesley (Sully) Sullenberger less than five minutes to become a hero. On Jan. 15, Sullenberger saved the lives of all 155 passengers aboard the U.S. Airways Airbus A320 he was flying. After birds hit the engines of Flight 1549 less than two minutes after takeoff and the plane lost power, the former Air Force pilot cooly told passengers to "brace for impact" and landed the aircraft in the Hudson River.

Dawn says, "Damask Designs holds a special place in my heart as it's the first stamp set I ever designed back in 2008. It came out in the February Anniversary release in 2009 and I was soooo nervous and excited! Many of you fell in love with the set and used it as much as I did! I have always loved being able to create my own custom backgrounds and this set allows you to do just that. With the addition of new tools over the years, like the MISTI, it makes it even easier to try out fun techniques with old and new sets alike! I had a lot of fun adding a bit of an ombre flare to my beloved damask! Come see!"

Laurie says, "Giga Guidelines is one of those sets that transcends time. It was also the first set I ever owned that has more of a graphic feel and is probably more than a little responsible for my utter fascination with that style! With their classically elegant look and larger size, the sentiments in this set are to this day still some of my favorites!"
