We have another exciting day of product introductions for you today! Birthdays are one of the most popular occasions for card makers to get crafty for and we have lots of new products that will make creating them fun and fresh!
Coloring isn’t just for kids! The What the Doodle series was inspired by the current coloring craze. Stamp these intricate images over and over and color ‘til your heart’s content. Use your favorite medium – markers, colored pencils, pens, or watercolor. Or go for a completely different look and just stamp or heat emboss the outline images and skip the coloring! The images in the What the Doodle: Piece of Cake set are perfect for birthday, wedding, and anniversary cards, tags, and more! Collect all of the What the Doodle sets and create your own coloring books to give as gifts, or enjoy for yourself!

The Details:
I have felt that we needed an additional soft green in the same family as Spring Moss for some time, something that would work well with it for two step stamping. Prairie Grass does just that. It is slightly darker than Spring Moss and has a tiny bit more of a blue undertone rather than yellow. This pairs up with a lot of the pastels beautifully, without being as overpowering as Simply Chartreuse or Ripe Avocado. It also looks AMAZING with Classic Kraft. Prairie Grass products will be available for purchase on November 15th in the following options:
- Prairie Grass 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (12 sheets), $3
- Prairie Grass 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (24 sheets), $5
- Prairie Grass 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (50 sheets), $9
- Prairie Grass full size ink pad, $5
- Prairie Grass cube, $2
- Prairie Grass ink refill, $4
Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
First up is What the Doodle: Piece of Cake. I wanted to do something a bit different so I decided to do a chalkboard technique with it. All of the What the Doodle sets have the perfect style for this type of technique.
I stamped several images from the set along with a sentiment from For You (more about that later in the week) in Fresh Snow ink onto Smokey Shadow cardstock. Then used my finger to smear small amounts of white ink around the images to give them that chalk look.
I added a banner with some colorful triangles of cardstock and a bit of black & white baker's twine.
Super easy and very festive results!
The Big Basics dies are such a great size and can really serve as a great focal point on a card.
Here I cut Big Basics: Wish Big from white cardstock and popped it up with foam tape over a Copic colored rainbow on the card base.
A few jewels were scattered around it for a confetti kind of look.
I love the new Splits set, especially for it's masculine applications.
I just stamped it in black ink and added a few pops of color with Copic markers. The coloring is very freeform to give it an artistic feel.
You could use any color combination and make it more feminine or even child-like.
Here I used just one side of the Splits frame to stamp around the edge of my card front.
I used the Big Basics: Wish Big again, this time colored with Copics in an ombre scheme that coordinates with the colors that I stamped the frame in.
There are a few little lined bits and pieces included in the stamp set, and I was able to go back in with two additional colors to add to the stamped edges.
The end result is very modern looking, and gives you more design options for the set.
You can also double up the frame and stamp two impressions end to end like I did here.
This creates an extra long sentiment strip that can complement nearly any sentiment in your collection. I flipped the small striped triangle from the set over to the back side to add some solid spots of color.
I hope you have enjoyed all the creations that I have shared with you today! There's nothing better than stamping cake images, all the fun an calorie free.
