Scherenschnitte, which means “scissor cuts” in German, is the art of intricate paper cutting. Splits: 'Tis the Season is the ninth in a monthly series of stamp sets featuring a “splits” focal image, each with their own handcrafted look and theme. Each month will include a different sentiment that is interchangeable between any of the “splits” frame images. The sentiments will be sized just right to snuggle into the space provided within each frame stamp. A coordinating die will also be available to make cutting, stamping, and mounting them a breeze. A lot of mixing and matching fun to be had, you’ll want to be sure to collect them all!

We have a new, true dark navy coming your way! It is a beautiful rich color that will be an excellent pairing with this month's snowflakes and more. Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
The new Paper Clippings: Joy to the World die that Betsy designed is just amazing! There is so much detail and style, all you need to do is add a bit of color and you have an instant masterpiece!
I wanted some really bold colors, so I chose to color it in with markers. I used two tones of each color to add shading, giving the die-cut more depth.
The globe and banner in the middle is one of my favorite parts.
Along the bottom of the card I sponged some Dark Indigo, then used a watercolor brush to add water and give it more of an ocean waves, striped effect.
>>>TIP: Since our inks are dye inks, they play well with water. Experiment with the different effects you can get after sponging a large area like this. You can add stripes like I did here, dots, splatters, etc.
I used very small snips of foam tape to adhere the die-cut to the front of my card.
This die-cut is pretty enough that it could make a beautiful framed piece to display during the holidays too!
The stitched banner included in the Paper Clippings: Joy to the World Details collection is a new favorite for me.
>>>TIP: You can bend and straight single line sentiment stamp on your block to match the curvature of the banner, giving you lots of options for mixing and matching.
To help add some shading, I colored both the banner and the Inspired: Hope die-cuts with Copic markers. It is simple, but it keeps the statement as the focus of the card. This would be easy to replicate in alternate colors to suit the recipient or occasion.
