Saffron Spice is being introduced as our new color this month. It is a gorgeous yellow-gold color, with a slight green undertone. This color is a bit transformative in that when you pair it with green it looks more free, when you pair it with browns or yellows, it is more yellow. This color is just right for all of your autumn projects and more!

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
My first project was super fun and easy to complete. The new Fancy Foliage Details dies are probably now in my top ten favorite products ever! The delicate details, the organic style and the size allow you to use just one or make a whole arrangement like I did here. The dies are based on the smaller sprigs that are part of the Fancy Foliage stamp set, just a much larger version.
I die-cut the sprigs from white cardstock and colored them with various Copic markers.
>>>TIP: When coloring delicate die-cuts like this, be sure to use a gentle hand. It helps if you lift the marker vertically after applying each stroke of color to help eliminate the chance of ripping them. If you plan on doing some pretty dramatic ombré effects and apply lots of layers of color, I would recommend you color your cardstock block first, then die-cut.
The sentiment from Inspired: Blessed is such a nice change from a standard "thank you" phrase and I know this will be getting a lot of use in my house! The sentiment was heat embossed onto a strip of Ocean Tides.
As a nice little accent, I added a few Rainstones, adhering them with Glossy Accents. I hadn't used these for a while and now I am realizing that I need to pull them out more often!
You could easily recreate this card with a variety of different colors of leaves, depending on the season and the recipient!
The new What the Doodle: Tea Time is just over the top fabulous. I drink tea every single day, in fact I couldn't even begin to start my morning without it. So this set just really speaks to me! The little details and trims on the cup specifically just exemplify Betsy's illustrating talent!
I kept this card pretty simple to let the cup take center stage. The cup was colored with a variety of Copic markers (see supply list below).
>>>TIP: The color (or lack of color, a.k.a. white) that you chose for the background of your card plays a huge roll in the perception of the colors of your focal point. The perfect example is this tea cup paired with Classic Kraft. I originally played around with putting it on Spring Rain or Melon Berry. These made the colors of the tea cup look a bit "younger" and more baby/pastel. By mounting the cup on Kraft, it brought out the slight earthiness the colors had, especially the main color of the cup. This in turn made the card look a bit more grown up and sophisticated.
The background uses the leaves from Kay Miller's new Stylized Autumn, stamped in Fresh Snow.
The sentiment (isn't that the sweetest!) is added just above the cup in black ink, and a "steam heart" is added just to the side of that in Fresh Snow.
My next project is one of my favorites. It is super simple and stylish all at the same time, thanks so Maile's new Fancy Foliage set. I love that she has already taken all of the arranging for us with these images and the sentiments each have various sprigs perfectly paired with the flow of the letters. It just takes all the guesswork out of everything!
The image is stamped in Fresh Snow onto the awesome new Saffron Spice cardstock. The finished project is a bit more earthy than my camera picked up, really giving it an autumn vibe. I colored the leaves in with Copic markers., being careful to not color on top of the white stamped areas.
>>>TIP: If you look closely you will see just a few very faint shadows added under the branches using a T1 marker. I do this often and I recommend you give it a try if you haven't yet. It kind of brings everything to life and creates a sense of depth even though it tis a flat card.
You could definitely use any of the sentiments in the set to create similar cards, and even go seasonal with the color schemes too!
My last card pairs up two new favorites, New Every Morning and Stylized Autumn.
New Every Morning contains some AMAZING typography work from Dawn McVey. It doesn't get any better than having such gorgeous fonts paired up with incredibly inspiring scriptures. The long skinny format makes these perfect for card fronts and card interiors, but they are also sized for bible journaling. For those of you who haven't jumped into that aspect of the hobby but have been thinking about it, these stamps make it easy! I opted to create a card for a dear friend who is facing some difficult times right now. The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in gold.
The background strip was stamped with Kay Miller's fabulous new Stylized Autumn set. Cannot. Get. Enough of this set. The large leafy branch is seriously a must have, and all the bits and pieces to go along with it are so easy to use. I wanted to do something a bit different here, so I used several dark colors to add the pattern to a strip of Tropical Teal cardstock.
>>>TIP: To add a bit of interest and help blend a stamped pattern together to make it look more cohesive, take an ink pad directly to your paper. Here I have lightly swiped my Enchanted Evening ink pad down the edge of the pattern strip. It gives it a little bit of a vintage feel and totally changed the style of the card.
