There’s something so charming about quirky, irregular backgrounds. Background Basics: Splats has just the right amount of whimsy for all of your paper crafting projects. The large patterned strips make full backgrounds or unique borders a breeze while the patterned mini blocks allow you to add a reverse design to smaller elements. Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project I wanted to keep the background a nice crisp white to let the ombre "coach" stand out.
I die-cut several of the new Pennant Flag shapes and phrases, all from white cardstock, and angled them all over the cover to create a textured background.
I just love the way it turned out!
"Coach" was die-cut three times and adhered together, then the top layer was sponged with an ombre created with Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and New Leaf.
A versatile card that could even be customized with school colors!
The new little Pennant Flag dies also look amazing when cut from felt!!! Totally a min version of the real thing!
I die-cut this one from Ocean Tides and Canyon Clay.
A sentiment was added in the lower corner with the Thanks Coach stamp set in True Black ink.
The Classic Kraft card base kept everything neutral without being overpowering.
This project was really quick and easy. I just selected five colors I wanted to work with and created 1" strips.
Two of the strips I cut the word "Coach" from, keeping all of the little pieces gathered up using Press & Seal.
This allows the Classic Kraft card base to show through the word opening.
I added a stamped companion sentiment from Thanks Coach on the stripe below that.
For my last card I wanted to use Lizzie's new Go For the Goal set, which celebrates the sport of soccer specifically. I always like to try to use school colors when creating projects like this and the 2-step jersey really allows you to do that easily.
I stamped the main part of the jersey in Scarlet Jewel, then added all of the accents in Summer Sunrise. A touch of gold seemed like just the thing, so I used the Headline Numbers dies with Gold Foil Adhesive Sheets to add these to the jersey.
I die-cut this frame from Outlined (more about this later in the week!) and added the sports quote from Go For the Goal inside of it using True Black ink.
I created a background by stamping the soccer ball repeatedly in True Black ink onto a Smokey Shadow card base.
