Gorgeous medallions are the focus today, as we introduce you to a classic new stamp set perfect for year-round applications. Medallions are stylish and detailed, trendy and traditional all at the same time and you just might be surprised at their versatility and ease of use! We hope to leave you inspired!
This medallion set is unique in that all of the images outlined, giving you the ability to color them and experiment with all kinds of different techniques. The detail incorporated into each medallion is incredible and really allows you to keep your cards simple, allowing the medallions to take center stage!
The Details:
- Fancy That will be available for purchase on August 15th.
- It will retail for $24.
- Fancy That contains a total of 14 images. The majority of the medallions are 2" in diameter, while the two largest medallions are 2-1/4". "Just a note" measures 2-3/4" x 3/4". "Thank you" measures 2-7/8" x 3/4". "Celebrate" measures 2-1/4" x 1/2". "For you" measures 1-7/8" x 3/4".
Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For this first card I wanted to do a bit of watercolor resist!
I heat embossed the medallion image using White Filigree Embossing Powder to begin. When creating my palette I just pressed several imk pads onto a large block, leaving small puddles of color, then used a damp watercolor brush to pick up the ink
I made sures to blend the colors each time I transitioned into antoher one as I woeked my way around the medallion.
The sentiment (from Fancy That as well) was added in True Black beside the medallion. I also added some small jewels to the center for dimension. Everything was adhered to a Soft Stone card base.
One of the things I love about these medallion designs is that the versatility that opens up since they are outline images, like coloring with Copics for example.
I stamped this image using Fresh Snow ink onto a Classic Kraft card front. I then used some bright Copics to add color to all of the openings.
Underneath the medallion, I added the sentiment with VersaMArk and heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
I can totally envision doing gift sets like this with a whole collection of this design in a rainbow of colors!
Another technique I wanted to highlight was the ability to use the back side of the stamps to add a large block of color behind your medallions.
I stamped these blocks using the back of the medallion with Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice and Hibiscus Burst. I then flipped the stamp over and went back in a shade darker to add the medallion imgaes on top of the blocks. That was done with Orange Zest, Simply Chartreuse and Raspberry Fizz.
The sentiment is added right over the center portion of the design with True Black ink. I also added some Glossy Accents to the centers of the other two medallions.
I trimmed the bottom edge of the card front using pinking shears. This was mounted to a tall, skinny white card base.
For my last project I wanted to show you how you can use these medallions to create backgrounds as well.
The focal point was created with a strip of New Leaf bitty dot paper, along with the Phrase Play #7 die. The word "Thankful" was doen in white and the leaves in New Leaf.
The background was stamped onto Aqua Mist cardstock using Tropical Teal and New Leaf inks.
