Welcome to the July Papertrey Countdown! We're kicking things off with stunning images (think lush, gorgeous botanicals) and some classic sentiments and dies that you'll be able to use again and again!
The second in a series, this gorgeous set of two botanical images provides you with the perfect stamps to create stunning cards, perfect for nearly any recipient. They are detailed enough that they can be used alone, but they also offer many options for your favorite coloring mediums and techniques, such as Copic markers, watercoloring, heat emboss resist and more.
The Details:

- Botanical Blocks II contains a total of 8 images. Each of the floral blocks measures 1-7/8" x 3-1/8". "With sympathy" measures 2" x 1/8". "Congratulations" measures 2-1/4" x 1/8". "Happy anniversary" measures 2-1/4" x 1/8". The "All the best" block measures 5/8".
Heather Nichols has done it again! This is a collection of sentiments designed to fit on the larger banner included in the Double Ended Banners die. Use these elegant sentiments with the banner die cut or stamp them on their own as well to say just the right thing on your next card creation. These medium sized sentiments cover a range of occasions that you will find yourself reaching for again and again.

- Banner Sentiments contains a total of 15 images. The “happiest anniversary wishes sentiment is just under 4” wide and just over 1/4” tall. The “on your special day” sentiment is just under 2 3/4” wide and is just over 1/4” tall. The smallest flourish included in the set is just over 1/2” wide and is just over 3/8” tall.
- The sentiments in this set coordinate with the previously released Double Ended Banners die.
Birthday Classics: August is the seventh set in a monthly series by Dawn McVey that features a gorgeously unique birthday sentiment as well as birthday sentiment building options, with each set focusing on a specific month! Finally, you can create birthday sentiments specific to each recipient’s birth month! Custom birthday cards just got more fun than ever! You’ll want to be sure to collect them all to create cards for anyone on your birthday calendar!

- Birthday Classics: August contains a total of 7 images. The “...August Sunshine...” sentiment measures 2-1/8" x 2-1/4”. The “August” sentiment measures 1" x 3/8". The “BIRTHDAY” sentiment measures 1-1/4" x 3/16".
Another Text Block die from Lizzie Jones to add to the mix, this one is all about being thankful. The unique holes cut in the center can be used for stitching or can be embellished with brads, a few buttons or even backed with colored card stock.

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project I couldn't wait to break out the peony in the new Botanical Blocks II set along with my Copic markers!
I kept things simple and stamped the image directly onto white cardstock. A nice soft color was in order so I used tones of Sweet Blush and Melon Berry for the flower and Ripe Avocado for the leaves.
To get more versatility from the Text Block: Thankful die I cut the top phrase from the frame and coated them with a thick coat of Glossy Accents.
After that dired I adhered them onto my card front.
Now the lilacs needed a turn!
Again, I pulled out my Copics and selcted some bright greens and violets followed by a nice Aqua Mist background. I followed up my coloring with small dots of white done with a white gel pen.
To add a bit of texture to the card front I added the Cover Plate: Stripes Horizontal die-cut also done in white.
When using images that are colored in like this, I always like to keep things pretty simple. This quick and easy single layer card would be easy to mass produce and even swap out the sentiments for any occasion.
The peony image is stamped in Fresh Snow. I then used Copics in shades of orange and red to color the floral image in. After coloring the leaves as well, I outlined everything with a T1 Copic.
This gorgeous sentiment from Banner Sentiments was added right on tp of the colored focal point using True Black ink.
I love the way the colors pop from the Kraft cardstock!
Next up is a watercoloring card using those gorgeous lilacs!
I used Spash Ink watercolors here and I am just loving the vibrancy of them.
I die-cut the smaller banner from the Double Ended Banner die in Soft Stone and then stamped it with one of the new Banner Sentiments in VersaMark and heat emboss it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
A Soft Stone card base finishes the project off!
I used some darker tones that I mixed up with my Splash Inks to paint this lilac image stamped onto Classic Kraft cardstock.
You can really see how dense these colors are when they are applied to Kraft cardstock like this! After the image dried I stamped this sentiment from Banner Sentiments in VersaMark and heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
The cropped block was adhered onto a Classic Kraft card base and I used a white gel pen with a ruler to add a frame around it.
My next project uses the GORGEOUS main sentiment from Birthday Classics: August.
I stamped the sentiment in True Black and then added these stripes from another new set, Note Niblets (more about it later in the week!). All of these rainbow hues just make you smile!
To add a bit of visual balance I tied the bottom of the card with some black twine.
Here is another card using Birthday Classics: August, pairing it with Botanical Blocks II.
I stamped the peony block with Soft Stone ink so that the lower edge was hanging off. I colored the leaves in with a light green Copic. I stamped the peony on vellum cardstock and heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder. I colored the BACK of the vellum with some bold pink Copics. Since I was coloring on the back I worked backwards and did the shading first followed by the main color.
The sentiment from Birthday Classics: August was added to the right in True Black.
To help add visual balance I wrapped some white crochet thread around the top portion of the card a few times and finished it with a knot.
I love all of the Text Block dies because they really allow you to create super quick and easy cards, doing almost all of the work for you! This card uses just the die and a few cardstock colors!
I die-cut the die five times, each from a different shade of cardstock. I cut the top off of the Limeade Ice die-cut and used that to mark the New Leaf, etc... working my way down.
Everything was mounted onto a white card base.
Here is another Text Block: Thankful card for you. This one uses just cardstock again but has a few more layers to it.
I die-cut the text block from Tropical Teal cardstock and added stitches to the holes in the center with crochet thread. The ampersand was die-cut from Simply Chartreuse and added in place.
A Cover Plate: Chevron Vertical die-cut done in white was added behind the Text Block for added texture!
