This set gives you the ability to create a a "twine tied" look to any A2 sized card front or postcard. There is even the two-step option to add stripes to make it look like Baker's Twine. This is the fifth in a series of small sentiment sets designed to coordinate with a stylish, trendy phrase frame die. These particular sentiments finish the die-cut phrase "Happy", giving you lots of design options. The size of the coordinating die-cut phrase frame will also work well with our Monthly Moments series!

These new word dies are unique in that they are embedded in a double frame. This will allow you to add strips of another color above and below the words if you wish or leave those areas open for a cleaner look. You can glitter them up, rub them with inks for an ombre finish, layer them with metallic heat embossing, coat them with glossy accents and so much more!

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first card today I used Phrase Play #5 to create a shaker. Because the die in all one piece, it is easy and fun to do! To begin, I stamped the new No Strings Attached in strips of color to create a background. I used Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Tropical Teal and Simply Chartreuse. After all of that was stamped, I lightly brushed water over the stripes to allow the dye ink to spread and take on a watercolored look. When this dried, I added the stamped companion sentiments with True Black ink.
I die-cut the Phrase Play #5 from white cardstock and die-cut another layer of double stick foam to go underneath that and create the shaker element. I filled it with a bit of shaved ice, using enough so it would cover "for you" and allow the recipient to shake the card to reveal the remaining part of the sentiment. The shaker element was then adhered to the card front.
I just love all the bright white and pops of color on this card!
The new Phrase Play #5 die also works well as a mask since it is a single piece.
I die-cut the shape from scrap paper and placed it in the lower corner of the card. I then placed a few small star stamps from Super Stars on one block and started stamping over the mask with Tropical Teal and New Leaf inks, making sure to stamp repeatedly over the word "happy" to give it lots of definition. The mask was removed and I stamped "birthday" in True Black ink.
I used the Sketched Star die with wood veneer to create a small accent for the focal point.
A simple card that would be great for even masculine birthdays!
I was inspired by a catalog I recently received from MacKenzie & Childs for my next card, which uses Topiary Trio. I love the sophistication of the bold black checks with the topiary. I started by stamping the check border from On the Farm in True Black ink at bothe the top and bottom of the card.
The topiary was die-cut from white cardstock and stamped with Canyon Clay, Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado. I just love the detail that the second step leaves add to the top postion of the topiary. To add a more definition, I sponged a bit of Ripe Avocado ink around the edges.
The sentiment, also from Topiary Trio, was added underneath the with True Black ink. It was also mounted onto a True Black card base. I can totally see giving a set of these as a gift!
Speaking of sets, I have a beautiful stitched monogram set to show you next!
I stamped the triple ball topiary this time. I began with the pot first, stamping it in Melon Berry. Next came the first part of the trunk in Classic Kraft, then the topiary in Limeade Ice. I added the second step leaves with Simply Chartreuse. Last, I filled in the two remaining pieces of the trunk. I just love these colors together! The monogram letter was cut from Classic Kraft cardstock. I stitched it in place with embroidery floss, overlapping the monogram just slightly.
It was easy to stamp coordinating envelopes with the topiaries as well.
Note that I cut a block of cardstock slightly smaller than the card front to do the stamping and stitching so that I could adhere it to a card when completed, thus covering up my stitching on the back.
I have another Topiary Trio card for you, this one using the unique second layer die that cuts all of the individual leaves for added detail and texture.
I started by die-cutting the whole topiary from white cardstock and stamping just the trunk in Dark Chocolate. I then die-cut the shape again from Hawaiian Shores and trimmed the pot off. I then stamped the pot with Tropical Teal ink. I die-cut the second layer of the topiary from Ripe Avocado cardstock and adhered it in place, being careful not to apply adhesive to the back of any of the leaves. After it was mounted, I used the tip of a craft knife to lift each of the leavs and fold them back slightly.
I added the sentiment underneath, onto Aqua Mist cardstock, with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
It needed a little bit of visual balance, so I added a strip of Tropical Teal cardstock to finish the card.
I am really excited about the next set I have to share with you! No Strings Attached is a great way to add the look of string or twine without the bulk.
I started by embellishing the lower corner of my card with a few bits and pieces from On the Farm. The chicken was stamped with Charcoal Palette ink onto Classic Kraft cardstock. I then added the "Take Note" sentiment in True Black.
The twine was stamped along the top in a few steps. I first stamped the crossed straight portion in Fresh Snow, then added the bow at the intersection. Next I added the striped layer in Pure Poppy. A small Pure Poppy button finished the center of the bow. It almost looks realistic when you're done!
I used a black pen and a ruler to draw a black border around the card front, being careful to avoid the areas stamped with twine.
Here is another card using No Strings Attached. This time I also used a small tag, shadow stamp and knot that are included in the collection. I stamped the twine with Berry Sorbet ink and then added the tag in Harvest Gold. I also added the drop shadow for the tag in Soft Stone. I think the little drop shadow really elevated the tag to a new level!
I embellished the tag with a frame included on the set and elements from Garden Grace.
The little tag and other elements from the set also look great when added to the front of an envelope for framing the recipients name!
If you really want your stamped string to pop you can heat emboss it on darker cardstock.
I started with Smokey Shadow cardstock and stamped the string and the bow in VersaMark ink. I then heat embossed it with Zing! embossing powder (Cricket). I also heat embossed the companion sentiment from Phrase Play #5 in White Filigree Embossing Powder.
I stamped random polka dots using a small dot from Phrase Play #5 with True Black ink. I die-cut the Phrase Play #5 from Hibiscus Burst cardstock and trimmed the ends of "happy" out so I could use it alone without the frame. I then adhered it in place and completed my card.
I have a cute little kitty card for you next! Who can resist this sweet cat! I thought I would watercolor her for my next project.
I stamped the cat and ball of yarn with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with White Filigree Embossing Powder. I then watercolored them using Smokey Shadow and Hibiscus Burst ink refills. When the cat was still wet, I went back in added dots of more concentrated Smokey Shadow, allowing them to bleed a bit naturally. After it was completely dry I added a few small dots with a white gel pen.
I used the small star and scattered dots from Phrase Play #5 to add Summer Sunrise accents around the cat. To kind of represent wrapped yarn around the Hibiscus Burst card base, I stamped No Strings Attached with Rasberry Fizz ink.
Of course I had to try my hand at coloring the cat in with Copic markers as well.
After coloring the cat, I added some stripes with a darker Copic. I just love that the basic outline of this image allows you to add personality and customization with different fur patterns. I added a few accents around the cat using Little Bitty Bird since it was drawn in a similar style by Heather. The little flowers and bird were the perfect finishing touch. Small dots of glossy accents were added to the nose and eyes.
I die-cut one of the new Block Talk dies from wood veneer and left all of the interior pieces in place.
The sentiment block was the perfect thing for the cat to stand on.
I have one more project for you today using another one of the Block Talk dies. I stamped a few of the larger butterflies from Life is Beautiful onto white cardstock using Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest and Berry Sorbet.
The Block Talk die was cut from white cardstock and layered with Prisma Glitter. It's just gorgeous when it is embellished this way! The entire card front is adhered to a Summer Sunrise card base.
