Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project I couldn't wait to try out an ombre look with the new Background Basics: Art Deco set.
I stamped the largest background strip four times, each in a different color (New Leaf, Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist). I then added the second step stamp of the pattern in the same colors. I'm in LOVE with how this turned out and can't wait to try it in other schemes!
For the sentiment, I die-cut squares using the Limitless Layers: 1-1/2" Square die collection with white and Tropical Teal cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from Gatsby Glamour in New LEaf.
Everything was mounted onto a Tropical Teal card base. I used a white pen to draw stitching around the perimeter of the card front.
Now for a more delicate look, I paired the new frame from Gatsby Glamour with the previously released The Sweet Life set.
I stamped the roses in three layers. First, Sweet Blush, second Berry Sorbet stamped off once, third Berry Sorbet. The leaves were added in layers of Limeade Ice and Simply Chartreuse.
I die-cut the frame from Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating image in Ocean Tides. I love all the detail that this frame has, especially with the die cut!
Everything was mounted onto an Ocean Tides card base. I think this frame would look amazing on the front of a coordinating envelope too!
Now, some people may think that these art deco products might possibly be only good for fancy schmancy cards, but they can work really well for masculine projects too!
I used the ferns from In the Meadow along the bottom portion of this Vintage Cream card base in shades of Ripe Avocado and Spring Moss.
Then I simply added the frame from Gatsby Glamour in Dark Chocolate along with the happy birthday sentiment. I love how I can just add the frame and it is *enough*, no need for embellishing or anything like that!
Such a simple one layer card, and I really think the frame can totally work for guys too, depeding on the colors you select!
My next card uses a border from Gatsby Glamour to achieve a more modern look.
I stamped the two borders in Summer Sunrise then added flowers and leaves around them using Aqua Mist and Charcoal Palette. (The floral and leaf images are from a new set, Just Smile, which we will be sharing more about later in the week!) I added a small dot of Liquid Pearns to the center of each flower.
I cut a strip of white cardstock to fit in between the two borders and stamped it with this "thank you" sentiment from Keep It Simple: Thank You. Everything was adhered to a Classic Kraft card base.
How about a dreamy iridescent wedding card? I stamped a long narrow strip of Winter Wisteria cardstock with Perfect Medium and Background Basics: Art Deco, then brushed over it with three shades of Perfect Pearls, giving it an GORGEOUS iridescent ombre look.
I just wish you could see this in person! The shimmer and shine with the soft color transitions is just beautiful!
I die-cut the new Cover Plate: Deco from Silver Shimmer and Cream Shimmer cardstocks, cutting the shapes in half. I heat embossed the sentiment from Gatsby Glamour with Silver Filigree Embossing Powder.
Here I have used the new Cover Plate: Deco again. What I love so much about this die is that you can create really quick and simple projects using smaller focal points, without them feeling like they need something to ground them or the addition of mats. The die does all the hard work for you!
I started with a plain white card base and die-cut the frame from Simply Chartreuse cardstock. I adhered it in place using a two-way glue pen.
I die-cut a monogram using the Bookprint Upper dies and adhered it in place at the center of the card. I stamped two small flourishes from Take Note on either side of the monogram using Charcoal Palette ink. I think this looks like the type of notecard you might find at a fancy boutique! Definitely great for creating gift sets for teachers or holiday gifts!
I have another project using the new Background Basics: Art Deco.
I started with Melon Berry cardstock for the card front then stamped the main part of the background in Berry Sorbet. The smaller details of the background were added with Pure Poppy. Goodness, I just love this pattern and it is super easy to line-up too, making it perfect every impression!
I die-cut the borders from white cardstock and stamped them with their coordinating images from Gatsby Glamour using Pure Poppy ink. I cut a block of white cardstock to fit between the borders and stamped my sentiment in Pure Poppy as well.
To finish everything up, I mounted it all to a Pure Poppy card base.
I have one last quick and easy card for you using the new Text Block: Friends die. What I love about this series of dies that Lizzie created is that once you die-cut the text block, you practically have your card completed, depending on how simply or complex you want to get. I opted for a simple look today with some bright stripes behind the die-cut for contrast.
I grabbed several shades of cardstock and cut it into random widths. I then adhered them all in place onto a Classic Kraft card base. You could do this with any random scraps that you have to make a bright and cherry project!
I hope you have enjoyed all the creations that I have shared with you today! What do you think of the art deco style? Are you loving the classic looks you can create with these new products?
