This new set multiplies the fun and design options with the previously released Stitches & Swirls stamps. It's a Banner Day, created by Erin Lincoln, features a banner that has both soft curves and snappy angles for all manner of projects. The banner insert has an unique crosshatch design that can be stamped in a separate color as the banner or used alone to create a background pattern. Four heartfelt and unique sentiments can be used for love notes or to create a meaningful message to a dear friend or family member. Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project, I used the new Solid Stitches & Swirls set in conjunction with the original set. I am just LOVING the results! So easy to do too! It is best to stamp your stitching first (or in this case emboss) and then add all of the various colored solid images. Here I used Simply Chartreuse, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise and Hawaiian Shores.
Wonderful Words: Love ended up being a perfect match for the new It's a Banner Day set! The main word from Wonderful Words: Love was die-cut from white cardstock and stamped with the coordinating image in Hawaiian Shores. I die-cut the banner from white cardstock and stamped it with the banner frame using Raspberry Fizz. The companion sentiment from Wonderful Words: Love was aded with True Black. Two small orange rhinestones finish off either side.
Everything was adhered to an Aqua Mist card base. I just love how this turned out and I know I'll be making more in the future, perhaps even in different color schemes!
My next project shows a more vintage side to Solid Stitches & Swirls
I stamped the sentiment from Inside & Out: Love (more about this set later on in the week) in Dark Chocolate.
The flowers were added by stamping the original Stitches & Swirls set in Classic Kraft. I then followed up with the solid images in Spring Moss, Melon Berry, Sweet Blush and Harvest Gold. I love the soft look this takes on when stamped on Vintage Cream cardstock.
I added a small Classic Kraft heart, die-ct with the center of the "o" in Wonderful Words: Love. I finished everything up by mounting this to a Sweet Blush card base.
I made this quick and easy biorthday card with the new It's a Banner Day set. I absolutely love the coordinating linen textured center portion included in this set. It really makes the banner pop!
I stamped the banner duo three times here. Once each in Ripe Avocado and Limeade Ice, Ocean Tides and Aqua Mist and Canyon Clay and Summer Sunrise. The sentiments were selectively inked from 2012 Birthday Tags. I stamped the stars over more of the linen texture, cut them out and added them to the bottom banner.
Happy was die cut from the Tipped Tops die collection using Smokey Shadow cardstock and added to the top of the card. A Classic Kraft card base finishes off the project.
There is a beautiful little solid floral cluster image included in It's a Banner Day, a fun bonus for sure! I used it to to create this wreath as the focal point of my next card. I simple inked the entire image with Raspberry Fizz ink, except for a tiny portion of the bottom. I then inked that with Simply Chartruese and stamped. I made a second impression before re-inking, slightly off from the original impression. I repeated this process all the way around until I formed the wreath shape.
This sentiment from Happy Hearts (more about this set later in the week too) was added across the center with True Black ink.
I added small dots of silver Liquid Pearls to the center of each flower for texture and a bit more definition of the individual blooms.
I wanted a nice bright border around the white card front to punch things up, so I mounted it to a Raspberry Fizz card base.
I could hardly wait to break out the adorable little owl in the new Polka Dot Parade #11, and it definitely did not disapppoint! I started by stamping the branch included in the set with Charcoal Palette ink directly onto a block of Soft Stone cardstock. I added flowers and dots with the new Solid Stitches & Swirls set using Winter Wisteria, Spring Rain and Lavender Moon inks. The sentiments were added in Charcoal Palette as well from the previously released Kid Kudos set.
I die-cut the various pieces from Polka Dot Parade #11 from white cardstock. I stamped them with coordianting images using Winter Wisteria, Spring Rain and Lavender Moon. The little eyelashes were added with Charcoal Palette.
This was mounted to a white card base. I've always loved the subtle contrast between Soft Stone cardstock and the white, and it worked out perfectly for this project.
I just had to share another owl project with you today. This one uses Vintage Cream and Classic Kraft for a completely different look. I started with a block of Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped this sweet sentiment from It's a Banner Day in Dark Chocolate onto it.
The branch was die-cut and stamped in Simply Chartreuse. The owl was die-cut as well and stamped in Orange Zest and Hibiscus Burst. A bit of orange baker's twine was tied around the block for horizontal balance.
I stamped the Classic Kraft card base with Background Basics: Super Stripes using Vintage Cream ink. The diagonal stripes help to break up the "squareness" of everything and keep the eye moving.
I just had to do one more project with the new Solid Stitches & Swirls set! I couldn't resist!
I stamped the stitches with True Black and then added the leaves and flowers in New Leaf, Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores and Summer Sunrise. I added small accents to the leaves using an image from Birds & Blooms and Pinefeather ink.
I used one of the new dies, Stitched Pinked Edge Label (more details later in the week), with Blueberry Sky felt. I stitched it in place using white crochet thread. The letters were die cut with the Headline Alphabet dies from New Leaf Pattern Pack gingham paper and adhered with a liquid glue.
