Today's post should prove to be a lot of fun as we focus on dancing! Whether you can (or can't!) dance, we've got a darling new stamp set to share with you today, that will allow you to tell someone you care in a fun and creative way! So fire up your dancing shoes....we hope today's projects will put a pep in your step!
This set gives the phrase "two-step stamp" a whole new toe-tapping twist in true Lizzie Jones style! Featuring dance steps from the tango and the foxtrot, Fancy Footwork helps you cut a rug while you're cutting your cardstock! These images are a unique way to let someone know how much you care. The simple design lends itself perfectly to both sophisticated and playful styles.
The Details:
- Fancy Footwork will be available for purchase on November 15th.
- It will retail for $15.
- Fancy Footwork contains a total of 10 images. The tango images measure 1” wide by 3 1/4" tall, the foxtrot images measure about 2” square, the "Dance on air" sentiment measures 2 1/8" wide by 3/8” tall, the "Reason to dance" sentiment measures 1” wide by 3/4” tall.
We love the new trend that has been popping up, especially on Maile Belle's blog ( like HERE and HERE), of an angled layer on your card front. These dies make it easier and help to conserve supplies, by not wasting paper trying to get just the perfect angle! This set of dies offers a set of three sizes so you can coordinate with a horizontal or vertical card. As a little extra, there are a two "Happy" dies and a star that can be paired with so many other stamp sets.
Here is a diagram showing how the three sizes work with standard A2 cards:
- Tipped Tops die collection will be available for purchase on November 15th.
- It will retail for $12.
- Tipped Tops die collection contains a total of one die (6 nested wired shapes). The largest Tipped Top shape measures 3-5/8" x 5" and the smallest 2-7/8" x 4". The script "happy" measures 3-1/2" x 1-1/2". The block happy measures 2" x 1". The star measures 1" x 1".
Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
Dancing goes hand in hand with music, so what better to pair up with the new Fancy Footwork set than Background Basics: Sheet Music?
I stamped strips of sheet music three times, using Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest and Raspberry Fizz, allowing each color to overlap each other slightly. I then went back in with ink refills in the same colors and watercolored over them creating an ombre effect. I also splatterd some of the Raspberry Fizz on the card to give it a more artsy kind of feel.
After it dried, I added the dance steps in True Black as well as the coordinating sentiment. A really fun card to make that was also pretty simple to put together!
I could hardly wait to pull out the Tipped Tops dies and try them out. They are the perfect size to add a sentiment to a card and allow a fun background to peek out from underneath.
The sentiment (from Fancy Footwork) was added in True Black at the bottom of the smallest Tipped Top die-cut. I also cut the star from the Tipped Tops set three times from the sentiment block. I cut the star three star frames separately from New Leaf cardstock and adhered them in the holes I cut originally. I love the way this looks and can't wait to try it out with more shapes.
For the background I stamped the dance steps in New Leaf and Fresh Snow, layering them slightly on Aqua Mist cardstock.
Everything was adhered to a New Leaf card base.
For my next card I pulled out an old favorite, the couple from the Simply Jane die set. I thought they would be perect paired up with both the femal and male dance steps stamped in Scarlet Jewel at the bottom of the large Tipped Tops die-cut.
I di-cut the couple from Smokey Shadow cardstock and adhered them with foam dimensionals on top of the dance steps.
I stamped the sentiment (from Fancy Footwork as well) in Scarlet Jewel onto a strip of Sweet Blush cardstock that is tucked nicely under the woman's head. I added bold stripes to the Smokey Shadow card base with Background Basics: Super Stripes using True Black ink.
I had fun creating the background for this card using a variety of the dance step images from Fancy Footwork.
I die-cut Fillable Frames #7 from the Melon Berry layer to create a window. I die-cut the "Happy" from Vintage Cream cardstock and them pressed it into my VersaMark pad. I heat embossed it with two layers of Gold Filigree Embossing Powder. It fit perfectly to adhere just the "H" and "Y" to either side of the window. The curved banner in Bountiful Banners was just the thing to house the "Anniversary" sentiment from Everyday Happiness, also heat embossed.
I wanted a champagne-like color and for the background amd after some experimentation I found that Classic Kraft ink on the Melon Berry cardstock was the perfect recipe.
One of the sentiments from Fancy Footwork was heat embossed onto the Vintage Cream cardstock through the die-cut window.
Here is a more modern take on Fancy Footwork.
I layerd the "female" and "male" dance patterns on top of each other using True Black and Fresh Snow inks.
I stamped another one of the sentiments from Fancy Footwork onto a small block of Limeade Ice cardstock. After adhering it place I added some lines using a black pen and ruler. I stamped the "Love" circle from Sending My Love in Hawaiian Shores onto Aqua Mist cardstock. Then I punched it out with a 1/2" circle punch.
The arrow strip from Bubble Talk was the perfect finishing touch.
For my last card today I have a beautiful Happy Birthday card.
I pulled out the previously released Year of Flowers Collection and stamped several mums using VersaMark then heat embossed with White Filigree Embossing Powder. I wantercolored them using Berry Sorbet and Simply Chartreuse ink refills.
I die-cut the the small Tipped Top from Classic Kraft and then followed that up with the script "Happy" die. I was then able to inlay a second Berry Sorbet die-cut intot he Tipped Top. "Birthday" from Everyday Happiness was added to the bottom edge using True Black ink.
I also added a strip of Simply Chartreuse cardastock to the bottom which was stamped with Sew Simple Borders in True Black.
