Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project today I just wanted to show you one of the MANY options you have for creating projects year round with this new collection.
I stamped the sentiments onto a strip of Sweet Blush cardstock using Melon Berry and Charcoal Palette ink.
I thought incorporating a clock into my card would be appropriate with the "New York minute" reference in the sentiment. So I dug out an old favorite, Hands of Time. I started by die-cutting Soft Stone cardstock with the 2-1/2" Limitless Layers Circle die. I stamped the clock face and numbers with Charcoal Palette ink. To finish, I heat embossed the clock hands with White Filigree Embossing Powder. The clock face was cut in half and adhered above the sentiment strip.
I stamped various building, including the New York Chrysler Building around the curve of the clock face. These awesome two-step images give you SO many amazing color combination options. I used a mix of Aqua Mist, Melon Berry, Lavender Moon, Spring Rain and Sweet Blush.
I die-cut the trees and stamped them with the coordinating images using Spring Moss & Charcoal Palette. Everything was adhered to a Soft Stone card base.
This next project showcases how you can bring a little New York to your Christmas cards too.
I stamped this sentiment onto three separate strips of Vintage Cream cardstock using True Black ink. I adhered them onto a block of Classic Kraft cardstock. I then added black dotted lines (from Star Gazer) between the sentiments with True Black ink as well.
I die-cut the taxi and tree from white cardstock. The taxi is stamped with Summer Sunrise and True Black ink. Seriously, I think this NYC Taxi is one of my favorite parts of this set. When you add all that detail to the taxi with one impression, it just makes you smile! I adhered the tab of the tree die-cut behind the taxi, lining everything up so it appeared as though the taxi was hauling the tree on the roof. I added small red ornaments to the tree with a Copic Spica Pen.
I die-cut some of the New York building silhouettes from old bookprint and adhered them above the sentiment strips. I stamped santa and his team across the top of the building with True Black ink. I also added a few scattered stars to the sky
One last detail to point out. I cut back the card cover about 1/8" from the edge, then added a thin strip of Pure Poppy cardstock to the edge of the back cover.
This card shows how you can use the building silhouettes without the stamps for even more design options.
I started by creating the sky. I heat embossed several different constellations from Star Gazer onto white cardstock using White Filigree Embossing Powder. I then sponged Royal Velvet and Spring Rain inks over them creating this pretty ombre look. The buildings were die-cut from white cardstock and assembled together to form a city skyline.
I heat embossed the sentiment onto a strip of Royal Velvet cardstock and then added "Paris" to the main card front with True Black ink.
For the card interior I stamped a fitting sentiment from Star Gazer in Royal Velvet, then added a moon and a few stars around it using Winter Wisteria ink.
Everything was adhered to a Winter Wisteria card base.
Now here's an Eiffel Tower holiday card!
The Eiffel Tower was stamped in Soft Stone. I placed a post-it note on either side of the tower to serve as a mask and stamped the pennant banner from the set in both Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores. Note the star at the top of the Eiffel Tower, making it look like a *Christmas tree*.
Speaking of trees, I added three of them around the base of the tower using Simply Chartreuse ink. One of them was die-cut and popped up with foam tape. I added colored lights to the trees with Copic Spica pens.
The sentiment was added with Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores inks just under the tower.
I added a layer of Soft Stone striped paper to the white card front to help carry the eye horizontally over the project.
I'm always on the lookout for clever belated birthday cards and this one fits the bill perfectly.
I cut the block of white cardstock for the card front at an angle. Then stamped all of the buildings, including Big Ben, using Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest and Berry Sorbet.
The sentiment was added using White Filigree Embossing Powder as well as True Black ink.
I used the Stitching Lines die to add this stitching with embroidery floss that coordinates with Berry Sorbet. Really gives a bit of pop to the project.
The white building block was impressed with the Linen Canvas Impression plate for added texture and definition.
this card showcases how you don't ALWAYS have to use several elements from City Scene to create a stunning card. You can pick and choose to use things individually as well, like this London double-decker bus here.
I die-cut it from white cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating images in Pure Poppy, Ture Black and Summer Sunrise. I then went back in and stamped the whole thing with VersaMaark and heat embossed it clear to make it look glossy.
The sentiment, which is very British, was heat embossed with Black Filigree Embossing Powder. I used a strip of Smokey Shadow Stripes paper to divide the bus and the sentiment, and also to resemble a bit of a road. Everything was adhered to a card base of Smokey Shadow cardstock.
