Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
(please click on the photo above for a larger view)
I was going through some photos the other day and stumbled across this shot I took a few years ago when my grandparents and sister were visiting. Just LOVE this photo and the huge, genuine smiles that everyone is wearing! I knew this captured moment would make a wonderful layout!
I wanted to keep things fairly simple so that the focus was on the photo, so most of the color can be found in the title. It was created with individual tickets from Teacher Tickets, stamped in Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Hibiscus Burst and Harvest Gold/Summer Sunrise. Letters from the new Antique Alphabet tucked perfectly inside using True Black. After using the Antique Alphabet, I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with the size. It is a nice medium size alphabet, which is relatively new to our line-up, and can be used for so many different things. Big enough to be used as a layout title, but small enough that it can be used to build a fairly lengthy sentiment for an A2 card. It's really the best of everything! And really easy to line-up too!
I wanted to point out a little discovery I made here. The ticket frames from the original Just the Ticket can be layered with these new tickets found in Teacher Tickets! It's a great way to have more design options at your finger tips and add more color!
I die-cut Wonderful Words: Memories from True Black cardstock and added that just below the ticket title using small bits of foam tape.
The journaling area was created with the school lines from Teacher Tickets using Fresh Snow ink. I also used the small "super" star from Teacher Tickets as well as some larger stars from Super Stars to create some pattern in the lower right corner.
I love these little reverse numbers from Teacher Tickets so much! I stamped them onto white cardstock using the same colors found in the ticket title. I then punched them out with a 1/4" circle punch and adhered them to 1/2" circles using foam tape. I like the simple dimension created here.
As the finishing accent, this small snap shot label from Shutterbug Special is one of my favorite details to add to layouts.. It is stamped in Orange Zest and I added the year with Library Ledger Year Additions using Raspberry Fizz.
As you can see by this layout, Teacher Tickets is SO versatile and has some great basics in it that can be used for so many fabulous things!
My next project is a little something for someone who just passed their driver's test!
For the focal point, I started with a small strip of Summer Sunrise cardstock and heat embossed the "16" (from Headline Alphabet) & a single dashed line from Teacher Tickets with White Filigree Embossing Powder. I then added "new" and "driver" from Congrats All Ways using True Black ink. Above it I added the large script "congrats", also from Congrats All Ways. I die-cut the Just the Ticket Border die from Smokey Shadow cardstock and added the polka-dotted ticket from from Teacher Tickets using True Black ink. Finally, I added the "you did it!" sentiment (also from Teacher Tickets) in VersaMark and heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
I just love the way the fun background for this card turned out! I used all the vehicles from Boy Basics: Truckin' It in Summer Sunrise onto the white card base.
A True Black card base finishes off the project. You could definitely change up the color scheme here to be more "girly" if you wanted to as well!
I just love the way my next project turned out and I am super excited to share it with you today!
First off, I used another new Cover Plate die here (more about this later in the week!) to create my background. I die-cut the basis Cover Plate from Spring Rain cardstock, removed the extra pieces and then impressed it with the linen side of our Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. This was adhered to my white card front. I then die-cut a second time using Aqua Mist cardstock, this time only keeping the individual stripes that can be popped out. The Aqua Mist stripes were adhered into place within the Spring Rain die-cut, creating this dual colored look. I love how one color features the linen texture while the other is smooth. It is such a nice detail!
I die-cut the largest flower using the Beautiful Blooms II #2 die collection from Berry Sorbet cardstock. I heat embossed this loopy center accent from Happiness in Bloom using White Filigree Embossing Powder. This shows that you don't have to limit those sweet little accent just to the Beautiful Blooms II #1 shapes! The very center was stamped onto white cardstock with Sweet Blush ink and trimmed out with scissors. I snipped between each petal so that I could manipulate the paper a bit and curl the petals upwards for dimension. Notice the gorgeous leaves! These use the new Happiness in Bloom Leaves dies without the coordinating stamps! I just love the double duty you can get from dies like this that can stand alone or look fabulous with the coordinating stamps too! I die-cut the main leaves from Sweet Blush and the center accents from white cardstock.
The sentiment, from Boutique Borders: Thanks, was added to this white strip using Charcoal Palette ink. I just LOVE the fonts used int he sentiments for this set! Not to mention the wording as well. Everyone always needs different ways to express their thanks and these are a classic! And for $5, how can you go wrong!
This card could take on so many different looks just by swapping out the color schemes! I hope maybe you'll recreate it once you get all of your new goodies!
This next project uses a unique color scheme that I stumbled upon while browsing on Pinterest! Terracotta Tile, Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise and Ocean Tides!
It all started with the main focal point, the sentiment. I heat embossed it onto my Terracotta Tile card base using White Filigree Embossing Powder. The baroque-style borders included in this month's Bountique Borders: Thanks set are one of my new favorites! I die-cut the the coordinating frame from Lemon Tart cardstock and stamped it in Summer Sunrise. I then used my paper trimmer to cut the bottom and top portions off so that they could stand alone. I adhered them above and below the sentiment using foam tape for dimension.
I die-cut and stamped several florals from the new Bigger Blooms set using Ocean Tides ink and adhered them around the frame, some directly to the card base and some with foam tape. I also added a few chocolate rhinestones to the flower centers for sparkle.
I die-cut the Honey Bees image from white cardstock and then stamped it in Dark Chocolate. I am SO excited to have these dies now! I have *attempted* to cut out that bee by hand before and it never came out very well! Easy perfection now that I can use the die!
I added a few of the leaves and berry clusters from Bigger Blooms around the flowers using VersaMark ink. I then added a stitched border around the outside edge using Dark Chocolate ink and Sew Simple Borders. Everything was adhered to a Classic Kraft card base.
I have one last project for you today and this one showcases thos fabulous Teacher Tickets again, this time on a special card to congratulate Hannah on the straight A's on her report card that we received this week! I had just about worn out Way to Go, Kiddo! for the encouragement cards I make for my kids so it was really nice to have something to freshen things up a bit!
I started with the background. I stamped the smallest open dots from Polka Dot Basics at a diagonal using Charcoal Palette ink. I then used the round number dots from Teacher Tickets in a rainbow of colors to fill in the circles. This take on colorful polka-dots is perfect for a "school" themed card like this one! I added two strips of 1/8" Scor-tape along both sides of the dotted area and covered them with Prisma Glitter, because Hannah is all about the glitter!
I die-cut the ticket from white cardstock and added the coordinating frame image from Teacher Tickets using Limeade Ice. The sentiment was stamped in Hibiscus Burst, then I stamped the "2" separately with Summer Sunrise and punched it out with a 1/4" circle punch, adhering it over the one that appeared in the original sentiment. The "super" star from Teacher Tickets was stamped in Hawaiian Shores and trimmed out with scissors.
I personalized the bottom edge of the card with the new Antique Alphabet and Charcoal Palette ink. Again, this alphabet is just the perfect size! I also added a strip of Hibiscus Burst cardstock to the bottom of the card, accented with the triangle strip from Sketched Shapes and Raspberry Fizz ink.
I hope you have enjoyed all the creations that I have shared with you today! I think we've showed a little something for everyone with today's introductions!
