Today, we focus on all things patriotic here in the United States. Think Independence Day, the stars and stripes, picnics in the hot sun with fried chicken and potato salad on the menu and apple pie for dessert and at the end of the day, a gorgeous fireworks display as we celebrate our nation's independence and honor all those who have fought to protect our rights. We're thinking red, white and blue as we bring you today's new products!
Heather Nichols designed this fun and graphic set to celebrate the 4th of July in the United States of America! Create glittering fireworks and stars for invitations, tags, and favors. The set will work for other occasions as well like creating a patriotic card to honor one of our nation’s soldiers.

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
I thought I would start off with a couple graduation cards that revisit the previously released For the Graduate stamp set. Now that there is a coordinating cap die, new design options are truly limitless!
I started by creating square frames from Simply Chartreuse & Ocean Tides cardstocks. I punched 1-1/8" circles and then punched out the leftover negative with a 1-3/8" square punch. The result is these frames which I clustered together to form a grid.
I die-cut letters from the Headline Alphabet die in the same colors and added them to the centers of each frame with foam tape for dimension.
The cap was die-cut from white cardstock and then stamped with the coordinating image in True Black. I added to the corner of the frames to make it appear ad though it were "perched" up there.
I added the graduation year to the very edge of the block using the numbers included in For the Graduate.
Everything was mounted onto True Black cardstock.
My next graduation card uses the new Zipper Border die. I just love thinking about all of the new options I have sentiments to add under the zipper with this new length.
I started by stamping the focal point onto white cardstock using Aqua Mist ink. I then went back in and added some stars from Red, White & Blue using Summer Sunrise & Canyon Clay inks. The cap was die-cut from white cardstock and stamped with the coordinating image in True Black. This was mounted on foam tape on top of the focal point. I carefully masked, inked & stamped the "Wishing You..." sentiment from For the Graduate and added it just above the Zipper Border die work.
I added a few more stars to the background using Canyon Clay and Summer Sunrise inks. I also added a small "Pull Here" arrow from Mover's & Shakers: Sentiments.
When you peek back the zipper strip, it reads the remainder of the masked sentiment.
Everything was adhered to an Aqua Mist card base. I love how this particular project turned out! Just think! You could recreate it and customize it in the appropriate school colors!
Now onto some patriotic projects! The first one I thought I would highlight today is a little something that celebrates the 4th of July. This could potentially be an invitation to a 4th of July bash if you just tucked some information inside.
For the focal point, I layered some of the fireworks images with the rockets using Enchanted Evening and Pure Poppy inks. I then added the sentiment and a few smaller stars with VersaMark and heat embossed them with Gold Filigree Embossing Powder. I stamped the sentiment again on white cardstock with Pure Poppy ink and carefully cut out the 4th circle with scissors and adhered it over the original one in the embossed image. I love, LOVE, love how all these layers work together.
I decided to do something a bit different with the matting. I added strips to the two outer edges in Enchanted Evening & Pure Poppy, complete with a mitered corner.
Little details like the mitered corners make a huge impact on simple cards like this one.
I was excited to use the fireworks image to create more of a decorative border for my next project.
I started by impressing the Enchanted Evening background with the Star Spangled impression plate.
I stamped the focal point frame in Blueberry Sky. I then stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock using Pure Poppy and punched it out with a 1-1/8" circle punch. This was adhered to the center of the frame. I also heat embossed a few impressions of the fireworks down the edge of a piece of Pure Poppy cardstock. A thin overhang of white cardstock was allowed here and trimmed with scalloped scissors.
A truly patriotic card that could potentially be a wonderful contribution to Operation Write Home or other deserving charity.
For my last project I thought I would show you a bit something fun that I did with the Chevron border die!
I die-cut the Chevron Border from Pure Poppy & white cardstocks. I then cut the border into equal pieces at each inner angle. Then I folded them in half.
I nested the bits and pieces together to form this beautiful accent to the focal point. Speaking of focal point, I stamped the main sentiment onto Enchanted Evening cardstock and heat embossed the phrase with Filigree White Embossing Powder.
I added the stripes with strips of cardstock. The Pure Poppy strip was accented with Sew Simple Borders and the Enchanted Evening one with stars from Red, White & Blue. On the white strip, I added one of my favorite sentiments from Military Hero in True Black.
I hope you have enjoyed all the creations that I have shared with you today! Are you feeling patriotic and getting inspired to create with some red, white & blue?
