Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project, I thought I would create a baby shower invitation that has a unique twist.
My focal point on the cover was created with Mini Blooms and Baby Button Bits. I stamped the various elements from Mini Blooms directly onto my white card front using New Leaf, Hibiscus Burst and Aqua Mist inks. I then die-cut the Baby Button Bits pea pod and added the coordinating image in New Leaf. The Aqua Mist buttons were stitched in place to represent the peas.
I die-cut the Wonderful Words: Baby word from white cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating image in Hibiscus Burst. It was adhered directly to the white card front and this allowed me to add the smaller companion sentiments from Wonderful Words: Baby in True Black around it. Three of the edges of my card front feature some "stitching" added with Aqua Mist ink and Sew Simple Borders stamp set.
As you can see here, the green tab at the side can be pulled out to reveal all of the invitation details.
I adhered Hibiscus Burst cardstock to the back of the white card front on three sides using 1/8" Scor-tape, creating a pocket. The Hibiscus Burst layer is cut slightly larger than the white layer and trimmed with scalloped scissors after everything is assembled. I used a 3/4" circle punch to notch the white cover.
The tag inside was created with a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock stamped with Background Basics: Super Stripes. I added the By Invitation main block image to white cardstock using Aqua Mist ink. A similar arrangement of flowers & leaves from Mini Blooms was also added to two of the corners. "You're invited to:" was added at the top with True Black. I die-cut a Mini Tab from New Leaf cardstock and added it to the top of the tag.
I love how this turned out and can definitely see using this scheme to create a whole party ensemble, right down to cute favors!
My next project uses the ADORABLE little teddy bear image from the new Polka Dot Parade #4 set.
I started by die-cutting the bear from white cardstock and stamping him with his coordinating image using Melon Berry ink. A Limitless Layers 2.25" Circle die was used with Harvest Gold Stripes paper to create a background for the bear to sit on.
I die-cut Bountiful Banners from white cardstock and stamped the coordinating image with Harvest Gold ink. I then was able to add the sentiment (from Wonderful Words: Baby) in Classic Kraft ink to the banner by curving it slightly on the block to match the curve of the banner. I adhered either end of the banner with a bit of foam tape, allowing the middle to curve upwards slightly.
The polka-dotted "baby" from Polka Dot Parade #4 was added underneath the banner using Fresh Snow ink. Small Melon Berry buttons were added to either end to help add visual weight and balance.
I decided to use a bit of an untraditional baby color scheme for this clean & simple card.
I stamped the baby buggy (from Polka Dot Parade #4) directly onto my white card front using Pure Poppy and True Black ink.
I die-cut the Boutique Borders: Baby block from Simple Chartreuse cardstock and heat embossed it with the coordinating image using White Filigree Embossing Powder. The beautiful sentiment (also from Boutique Borders: Baby) was added with True Black ink.
The sentiment block was added just underneath the buggy with foam tape. Super simple design that you could easily swap out in a variety of colors, depending on the recipient and the gender of the baby.
For my last project I just had to pull out one of my favorite images of all time, the sweet little cupcake from Baby Button Bits. With the new coordinating dies, there are so many awesome design options now.
I started by creating my own background paper, beginning with Soft Stone cardstock. I added Background Basics: Super stripes using Charcoal Palette ink and Fresh Snow ink. This created a gingham plaid background of sorts.
I die-cut the cupcake from white cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating image in Charcoal Palette. I then added just a few touches of color using Copic Markers. I glittered the "frosting" layer of the cupcake with Prisma Glitter and a 2-way Glue Pen. I also stitched a Lavender Moon button in place to represent the "cherry" on top.
I die-cut a Photo Finish Strip from Classic Kraft cardstock. The pretty sentiment was added from Everyday Photo Finishers stamp set using Fresh Snow ink. The bottom half of the card cover was accented with Lavender Moon polka dot paper.
