Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project today, I decided to pair up Handy Hardware and Sketched Shapes. They really complement one another quite well!
I started with the background. I stamped the largest circle from Sketched Shapes in Pure Poppy, forming a polka dot background. I then flipped the stamp over and used the back of it to create the solid shadow behind each dot using Berry Sorbet ink. This little trick will work with nearly all of the shapes in this new set, so it's almost like getting double the stamps!
I stamped a border from Label Basics onto Summer Sunrise cardstock using Orange Zest ink. I then added the clever sentiment with VersaMark ink, then heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder. I die-cut the screwdriver twice, stamping the coordinating image on both, one with Charcoal Palette ink and the other with Pure Poppy ink. I then cut the handle off of the Pure Poppy version and adhered it on top of the Charcoal one.
To create the tiny screw, I stamped the smallest circle from Sketched Shapes twice in Charcoal Palette, rotating the sketch lines 90-degreed before stamping again. I then inked a single stitched "x" from the Sew Simple Borders set to add to the center to give it the look of a screw. I punched it out with a 1/4" circle punch. Everything was adhered onto an Orange Zest card base.
My next project pairs up Handy Hardware and Sketched Shapes once again.
I repeated the same process that I used for the the screwdriver above, this time using Vintage Cream cardstock along with Canyon Clay and Orange Zest inks.
I arranged a few different images from Sketched Shapes to build a cool focal point around the clever sentiment from Handy Hardware. I used notes of Canyon Clay and Ocean Tides to bring everything together.
To finish off the project, The focal point was mounted onto a Classic Kraft card base.
My next project is super simple and would be easy to replicate in a variety of your favorite color schemes!
I used the long banner image from Sketched Shapes in an overlapping pattern using Ocean Tides and Ripe Avocado inks. I loved what the intersecting areas looked like and the effect it created.
I stamped the "HB" circle from Bountiful Banners with Charcoal Palette ink and punched it out with a 5/8" circle punch, adhering it with foam tape where the stamped banners intersect. I also added the "happy birthday" sentiment in the same Charcoal Palette ink. Everything was attached to an Ocean Tides card base.
I got inspired by a rainbow color scheme for this cheerful birthday card. I stamped the largest triangle from Sketched Shapes down the edge of the white cardstock block using New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold.
I repeated the same colors with the smaller triangle just on the other side of the first row of triangles. To help break things up and add some interest, I stamped some numbers down the left side of the block, overlapping and using the same colors.
The birthday sentiment (from Embroidered Blooms) was added in True Black just to the left of the stamped triangles.
Last, but not least, I mounted the focal point onto a True Black card base.
After seeing what a unique look I could achieve with the overlapping sketched banner strips above, I though it would be fun to experiment with the same technique using the circles.
I stamped the small circle first in one direction and then rotated the largest circle 90-degrees and stamped it over the smaller circle. I love the mix of "textures: this creates, without being too bold.
I stamped all of the circles in a row using Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, and Enchanted Evening onto Aqua Mist cardstock.
I added the sentiment and arrow border using VersaMark ink and then heat embossed them with White Filigree Embossing Powder. Everything was adhered to a white card base.
For my last card I wanted to achieve a really modern look with the smallest triangle image from Sketched Shapes.
I rotated and stamped several triangles across the front cover of this white card base using Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise and Melon Berry inks. I just love the randomness of it. I die-cut a few triangles and added them in here and there with foam tape to help create some texture and dimension.
The sentiment, also from Sketched Shapes, was added in True Black.
