Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
(click on the image above for a larger view)
For my first project today I just wanted to keep it simple and stamp these gorgeous new flowers as a single layer on my card front. The thing I love about multi-step floral sets like this is that you can achieve gorgeous detailed results like this with just a few simple steps!
I started by stamping the first layer of the blooms with Aqua Mist and the edges rolled in Ocean Tides. The second layer is in Ocean Tides, then the third layer in Vintage Cream. The very centers of the flowers are stamped in Dark Chocolate. The leaves in this set actually have two layers, but I used just the center "shading layer" here in Ripe Avocado.
I added this sentiment from Think Big Favorites #18 in Dark Chocolate, overlapping slightly over the flowers.
I swiped the edges of the focal point with the Tea Dye Duo to add some softness to the project. I tied some twine around the card cover for texture. Everything is mounted onto a Ripe Avocado card base.
My next project allows a single flower from Happiness in Bloom to steal center stage.
I die-cut white cardstock with the largest Beautiful Blooms II #1 die and stamped it with the coordinating first layer in Harvest Gold. I then added the second layer in Summer Sunrise, third layer in Orange Zest. I stamped the flower center on a scrap of white cardstock in Orange Zest and cut it out with scissors, adding it to the flower with foam tape. I cut a slit in each of the petals of the flower to allow me to curve all them upwards, cupping them together a bit for dimension. I stamped the first layer of the leaves onto white cardstock with Simply Chartreuse ink, adding the second shading layer in Ripe Avocado. I then cut them out with scissors and adhered them around the flower.
I stamped these new sketchy dots from Maile's set, Sketched Shapes, with Classic Kraft ink onto Classic Kraft cardstock. The sentiment, from Happiness in Bloom, was added with VersaMark and heat embossed with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
I wrapped a bit of crochet thread around the card front edge and tied it off with a bow to help add vertical interest.
Happiness in Bloom includes a fun border building element, which I have used here to create this colorful background. I love that I can rotate the border and nest a second impression in a second color with this border. It really opens up a lot of possibilities.
I stamped these flowers in several of the colors that are included in the background. I wanted to showcase how you an use different layers of these flowers separately for totally different looks.
As you can see here, I used several colors for the background, working from lightest to darkest. There are so many different effects you could get with this depending on the colors you chose.
To finish the card, I added a sentiment from Think Big Favorites #15 in Dark Chocolate ink. the card base was created with Canyon Clay cardstock.
I wanted to get a bit more "artsy" with my next project.
For the all of the bold layers of the flowers and leaves, I "swiped" the ink on rather than tapping it on, creating a painted, streaky look which I love using. The flowers were stamped with two layers of Pure Poppy ink, and then True Black centers. For the leaves, I stamped the first layer with Simply Chartreuse. On the second layer, I did not use the intended second leaf layer, I instead used the bolder teardrop background element in Ripe Avocado. Tiny Summer Sunrise flowers were interspersed around the larger flowers.
I die-cut the sentiment letters from True Black cardstock using Headline Alphabet dies. I adhered them in place with small bits of foam tape. For added texture, I also added some black rhinestones in various sizes.
Everything was adhered to a Simply Chartreuse card base.
For this project I decided to build a bright & bold background using different elements from Happiness in Bloom. As I said earlier, I love that you can use various layers of the flowers in different ways to create completely different looks.
After stamping the background elements I added this sentiment, also from Happiness in Bloom, in True Black.
On the Hawaiian Shores card base, I stamped Background Basics: Super Stripes using Prefect Medium and brushed on Perfect Pearls for some subtle shimmer.
I can see recreating this background in many different color combos!
Changing gears a bit, now I have some "masculine" projects to share using the new Polka Dot Parade #3. I just had to kick things off with this adorable little television set. I think there are all kinds of options for things you could add to the "screen" when combining this with previously released sets! I stamped the top half of the white card front with Background Basics: Chevron using Enchanted Evening and Simply Chartreuse.
I added the different elements of the sentiments underneath that with the same inks. I die-cut white cardstock with the coordinating television die and added the tv image in True Black. The word "Dad" was also added in Simply Chartreuse.
Everything was adhered to an Enchanted Evening card base.
For my last project today, I have a quick and easy retirement card. I stamped the Dark Chocolate card base with A Little Argyle in Dark Chocolate ink to start things off.
I then stamped a block of Classic Kraft cardstock with the bold "Congrats" from the Celebrations set. I also added the retirement sentiment at the top with VersaMark and then heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.
I die-cut the recliner from white cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating images using Scarlet Jewel and Dark Chocolate inks. I adhered it in place with foam tape, making it look as though the recliner is holding up the word "Congrats".
I hope you have enjoyed all the creations that I have shared with you today!
