We're thrilled to be bringing you the latest in the continuing folk art trend....products that are beautiful and versatile enough to be used again and again. The Details:

- Fancy Folk Art contains a total of 29 images. The large floral medallion measures just under 2-1/2". The smaller medallion measures just under 1-3/4". The single assembled flowers average between 5/8" and 7/8". The "Many Thanks" and Birthday Wishes" sentiments each measure 2-1/2" x 1". "The best thing to hold onto..." sentiment measures 1-1/2" x 1/2". "The purpose of life..." sentiment measures 2-1/2" x 3/8".
- A coordinating die collection will be available for sale separately, retailing for $8. This collection includes a total of 2 dies (1 + 6 wired shapes). 2-3/4" x 2-5/8" (A), 3-3/4" x 2" (B)
Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project I was anxious to use the dies that coordinate with the new Fancy Folk Art. The layering opportunities are just so inspiring!
I die-cut all of the pieces from white cardstock and then stamped them with the coordinating images. One of the best parts of this set is the multi-step options for the flowers so you can achieve amazing color combinations. I opted for Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides and a touch of True Black. The leaves are stamped in Simply Chartreuse. I adhered all of the individual flowers in place with small bits of foam tape for dimension.
I added a strip of Ocean Tides cardstock to add this beautiful sentiment from Fancy Folk Art in True Black ink.
Everything was adhered to a Simply Chartreuse card base, which I rounded all four corners of.
I wanted to go with a bit more of an earthy look with my next project and create a frame with the individual pieces rather than use the larger medallion. One of the beauties of this set is that you can choose to use outlined images and show-off your coloring skills if that's where your creativity is taking you.
I stamped the various individual pieces around a 4" square of Classic Kraft cardstock using Noir Palette ink. I then used Copic Markers to color them all in. Then I outlined all of the images with a T1 marker. Some subtle sparkle was added with a Buttermilk Spica pen, also from Copic.
The sentiment, from Fancy Folk Art, was heat embossed with Filigree White Embossing Powder. I heat embossed it a second time onto Pure Poppy cardstock and I cut out the banner, adding it on top of the original sentiment with foam tape.
I swiped Tea Dye Duo ink around the edges of the Classic Kraft square and then adhered it to a white card base.
I have been a bit obsessed with watercoloring lately, so I decided to apply that technique to this image too.
I heat embossed the large medallion image onto white cardstock using White Filigree Embossing powder. I then added a few drops of several ink refills to a plastic sheet and got out a watercolor brush and some water. I used Ripe Avocado, Blueberry Sky, Hawaiian Shores and Spring Rain. Here is a little tip. When you are watercoloring, add a light layer of color over a portion of the image, then go back and get a more concentrated bit of color on your brush and dab it in a place that may need shadow, like the base of a leaf or the center of a flower. By just touching your brush to the area with the concentrated color allows it to spread and add subtle shading sing the paper is already wet in that spot.
After allowing the watercoloring to dry, I added the sentiment from Script Sentiments in True Black ink.
An Aqua Mist card base completes the project. You could do the same design for a variety of color schemes and just about any occasion!
I also wanted to show you how you can use the outlined image and the separate solid pieces together. For something a bit different, I decided to use Soft Stone cardstock for my stamping rather than traditional white.
I started by stamping my Soft Stone card front with the large outlined floral medallion pattern all over the top half using Charcoal Palette ink. I then went back in with the solid pieces and added color in a few areas. I used Spring Moss, Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist and a touch of Harvest Gold.
The sentiment was heat embossed onto Spring Moss cardstock with White Filigree Embossing Powder. I added small pearls to the flower centers for extra dimension.
