Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
To begin with today, I created a set of three little treat bags from our Small Kraft Coffee Bags. I love using the coffee bags for homemade treats because the waxed lining on the inside helps to keep any moisture from leaking through. I could hardly wait to pair up the new Spooky Sweets II dies with the original stamp set that was released back in 2008. Even though this set may be an oldie, it is still a great classic that you can apply fresh inspiration to because of the new dies addition.
My first bag focuses on the new Shape Up Series: Pumpkin dies, this time with a Halloween twist. I love how I can use these dies to create an autumn/Thanksgiving pumpkin or opt to die-cut the jack-o-lantern face to make it more appropriate for Halloween. Versatile tools are always a great investment in my opinion!
I die-cut a solid Canyon Clay base for the pumpkin bag front and then die-cut the sections from Canyon Clay felt. I adhered them all to the Canyon Clay base with a bit of Scor-tape. I then arranged the jack-o-lantern face dies onto it. There is lots of opportunity here for several variations in spacing since each of the eyes and mouth are separate dies. You can also use one of the triangles for a nose if you like. I ran the felt/cardstock pumpkin through my die-cutting machine with the face dies in place. They only cut through the felt layer, not the cardstock layer, which is what I wanted. I removed the felt face pieces and adhered book print versions of the facial features within the openings. I love the texture of the thick felt being raised at a higher level than the book print below. I die-cut the stem from Ripe Avocado as well as some Winterberry branches to accent the top of the pumpkin.
For the tag, I die-cut True Black cardstock and book print using the Limitless Layers 2.5" Oval dies. I die-cut the Spooky Sweets II cat from Smokey Shadow cardstock and then heat embossed the coordinating image with Black Filigree Embossing Powder. The small banner from Fabulous Frames was die-cut from Summer Sunrise stripes paper and stamped with a sentiment from Spooky Sweets II. The top of the tag was finished with a Ripe Avocado button and black twine.
I adhered felt pumpkins to the front and back of a Small Kraft Coffee Bag, cut down to 4" tall with pinking shears. The pumpkin on the back is just a plain pumpkin, no face.
I adhered pieces of True Black Gingham ribbon in between the pumpkins & bag to form handles.
Next up is a bag using many of the same elements but focusing on the creepy spider from Spooky Sweets II.
I stamped a block of Canyon Clay cardstock with A Little Argyle in Canyon Clay ink to use as my background. I die-cut one of the fabulously detailed Spider Web Trio shapes (the medium one specifically) from book print and adhered that on top of the Canyon Clay layer. I die-cut the Spooky Sweets II spider from Smokey Shadow cardstock and heat embossed him with Black Filigree Embossing Powder, adding him to the web with foam tape. I die-cut the sentiment label (from Fabulous Frames) using Summer Sunrise stripes paper and stamped it with the lower portion of the sentiments from Spooky Sweets II using True Black ink. I added the top portion of the sentiment on a small strip of Ripe Avocado cardstock.
This coffee bag was cut down to 4" tall as well with pinking shears and handles were added with True Black Gingham Ribbon.
My last bag uses the popular witch image from Spooky Sweets II. I've always loved her hair and when illustrating it back in 2008, wished that my hair looked just like that! *wink*
This bag uses a spooky little tag to dress it up. The base of the tag is created from Classic Kraft cardstock die-cut with Tag Sale #2. I also impressed it with the new Herringbone Impression Plate. I punched a 1" circle from book print and used that as a moon. I die-cut the Super Stars Border from Canyon Clay cardstock and attached a piece of it across the tag. The witch was die-cut from Smokey Shadow cardstock and heat embossed with Black Filigree Embossing Powder. The sentiment banner was die cut using Fabulous Frames from Summer Sunrise stripes paper, stamped with the lower half of a sentiment from Spooky Sweets. The top portion of the sentiment added on a strip of Ripe Avocado. The tag was tied in place with a Ripe Avocado button and black twine.
Instead of cutting off the top of the bag, I wrapped it around to the bottom and adhered it with Scor-tape. I wrapped a strip of Canyon Clay cardstock around the bag, stamped with A Little Argyle using Canyon Clay ink.
The edge of the cardstock was trimmed with pinking shears and embellished with a small border stamp from Spooky Sweets II. A strip of True Black cardstock and True Black Gingham Ribbon were added down the center.
I have a little card for you next, featuring the adorable Mr. Bones! Isn't he just amazing! Leave it to Heather Nichols to design a skeleton image that you just want to reach out and hug! To begin, I used the largest Spider Web Trio die like an impression plate to impress my True Black card front. I love using dies like this because it really increases their versatility.
Mr. Bones himself was die-cut from Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped in True Black ink. This die is truly invaluable because of all the detail involved!
Mr. Bones is going trick-or-treating so he is toting the treat bag from the new Tremendous Treats: Halloween set. I colored the pumpkin with Copic Markers and did a bit of sponging around it with Vintage Cream ink. I added some shimmer to the bag with a Gelly Roll Stardust pen.
I trimmed down a strip of Royal Velvet stripes paper and heat embossed a sentiment from Mr. Bones using Black Filigree Embossing Powder. I added a piece of Orange Zest Swiss Dots ribbon underneath the strip and finished it all off with a Simply Chartreuse button.
Everything was adhered to a Smokey Shadow card base.
For my last project today, I was excited to use the too-cute-to-spook ghost image from Happy Haunting. Melissa Bickford was so clever the way she designed all of the interchangeable faces so you can get a lot of mileage out of this little set. For the background of my card, I impressed Smokey Shadow cardstock with the Sunshine Impression Plate, one of my all time favorites!
I die-cut the little ghostie from Vellum cardstock and stamped his face using Noir Black Palette ink. I then stamped the back of the vellum with Polka Dot Basics II using Fresh Snow ink. I then used a q-tip to add some white ink behind the stamped eyes. I heat set the white ink on the back with a heat gun and then was able to add a bit of Scor-tape behind the whites of the eyes to adhere it into place.
I die-cut Modern Alphabet letters & numbers to spell out "boo 2 u". I used Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest & Canyon Clay cardstock for this. The "2" was glittered with Prisma Glitter & a 2-way glue pen. All of the characters were adhered with foam tape for dimension.
The sentiment, also from Happy Haunting, was stamped on a strip of Spring Moss cardstock using Ripe Avocado ink. A strip of Orange Zest stripes paper was added underneath the "2". The smallest star from the Seeing Stars die collection was cut from white cardstock and glittered with Prisma Glitter as well.
