Heather Nichols has done it again with another fabulous addition to the Framed Out series. This is the fifth in series of frames that coordinate with a center cut out frame die cut. The center cut out can also be used with a coordinating image included in the set. Use the frames by themselves or combine both as well as the sentiments to add just the right detail to your paper crafting projects. Framed Out #5 features a tag style frame with a vintage map pattern - perfect for travel/vacation, sending best wishes, and masculine themed projects. Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
My first project today showcases how you can use the Lovely Layers dies with various colored cardstocks to create a really gorgeous layered medallion.
I started by die-cutting each of the pieces from cardstocks in my selected color scheme, Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Blueberry Sky & Royal Velvet. There are solid stamps to match each of these die-cut shapes, but I chose to skip that step and just heat emboss the detail layers with clear embossing powder.
When you layer all of the pieces together you get this. *sigh* This just makes me such a happy stamper! I love it when I can create detail like this so easily because the right tools take all of the work out of the equation!
I die-cut mats using the new Limitless Layers: 2.25" Square dies from Hawaiian Shores and Royal Velvet cardstocks. As you can see, the full-size medallion you can create with the pieces in Lovely Layers fits perfects within the square dies.
For the sentiment, I chose to use one of the pretty font combinations from Framed Out #5. I stamped it in Enchanted Evening on a strip of Blueberry Sky cardstock.
You can barely see it, but I impressed the card cover with the new Sunrise impression plate for some added texture. Everything was adhered to a Smokey Shadow card base. I highly recommend this color combo! It is amazing in person!
For my next project, I wanted to show how you can layer the same medallion pieces, but this time stamped in multiple colors.
I stamped the largest layer directly onto the white card base in Simply Chartreuse, adding the details in Ripe Avocado. The second layer was die-cut & stamped with Summer Sunrise followed by the details in Orange Zest. The flower layer was stamped with Hibiscus Burst & Raspberry Fizz and finally the flower center in Canyon Clay & Terracotta Tile. There are just SO many color options with these!
I stamped one of my absolute favorite sentiments from We Go Together under the medallion using True Black ink.
I can totally see myself making a whole set of these for boxed card sets!
This card showcases a background I created with the pre-assembled medallion images in Lovely Layers. I love having the option to build my own in multiple colors, or grab and go with one of these pretty "already done" versions.
I stamped three rows of the medallions to create my background using Ocean Tides, Spring Moss & Aqua Mist.
The new Fillable Frames #5 was a perfect addition for this card. I die-cut the tag from one of our coasters and stamped the tag portion directly onto it using Classic Kraft ink. I then stamped the center portion frame with Ocean Tides ink, followed by the sentiment in Charcoal Palette.
The tag was tied in place with a bit of 1/4" Silk Ribbon around an Aqua Mist card base.
The background here is a bit more bold and involves adding extra color with Copic Markers.
First, for the focal point, I stamped the large assembled medallion onto Harvest Gold cardstock using Summer Sunrise ink. I carefully cut it out with scissors and added the sentiment from Faux Ribbon using Charcoal Palette ink.
For the background, I repeatedly stamped the small assembled medallion in New Leaf ink onto Rustic Cream cardstock. I went back in with a Copic Marker and added an outline of color around the center flowers. I love the way this helps to tie in my color scheme better.
I added a strip of Summer Sunrise cardstock across the middle and mounted everything on a Classic Kraft card base.
My next project showcases a fun clear cardstock window to make it appear as though the focal point is "floating". I stamped the background using the two largest layer components from Lovely Layers in Terracotta Tile & Vintage Cream inks. This was so fun to layer and experiment with to develop my pattern!
I die-cut the background layer with the scalloped Limitless Layers square die, followed by the plain square die from my Vintage Cream card base to create windows. I adhered a block of Clear Cardstock between the card base and the background layer. I stamped the focal point on a square of Summer Sunrise cardstock using Canyon Clay ink and repeated a second time so that I could adhere them back to back on either side of the clear cardstock in the window.
Through the window you catch a glimpse of the sentiment inside from Healing Touch Sentiments, stamped in Dark Chocolate.
I love how this turned out an I'm definitely going to be trying this again in the near future.
For my last card today, I wanted to show how you can create a modern geometric look with Lovely Layers too.
I stamped the largest layer from the set multiple times on top of one another, rotating slightly each time. I used Blueberry Sky, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores & Winter Wisteria inks for this. I added a sentiment from Hello Sunshine (more about this tomorrow!) in Charcoal Palette ink.
To help add balance and interest to the card, I added three strips of ribbon held in place with buttons in the same colors.
