Introducing Simply Jane

If there is one author that is read time and time again by many, it's Jane Austen. Her classic views of love and family have stood the test of time. Her masterpieces have spawned interpretations on screens both big and small, as well as a whole genre of post-Austen novels. We all have our favorite Austen novel, but up until now, we didn't have much to use in our paper-crafting that reflected that Jane Austen style.

Simply Jane is a beautiful set that pays tribute to Jane Austen and the wonderful contributions she made to the literary world. With delicate silhouettes, a beautiful scrolled frame and other regency touches, you will never tire of the possibilities. All of the quotes were thoughtfully selected to represent important occasions that are celebrated often through card making.

The details:

• Simply Jane will be available for sale on January 15th.

• The oval frame measures 2-1/4" x 3". The large cameo silhouette measures 1-1/8" x 1-3/4". The small cameo silhouette measures 3/4" x 1-1/8". The female friend pair measures 1-1/4" x 2". The final introduction for today is the patterned paper collection called Dearest Jane by Dawn McVey. This patterned paper introduces a new chapter (forgive the pun, I couldn't resist!) in Papertrey Ink patterned paper. Dearest Jane features two different papers, one script and one book print, straight from the pages of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. It is Dark Chocolate words printed on Vintage Cream paper, and it's 8-1/2" x 11". We know this paper will become a staple in our paper crafting, and expect that you will come to feel exactly the same way!

Now for the fun part, the projects!

I thought I would start off today with a bold card that uses one of my very favorite Jane Austen quotes from Pride & Prejudice.  

I started by stamping this couples silhouette in Dark Chocolate ink onto the new Dearest Jane script paper which was die-cut with the Limitless Layers 2.25" Oval die.  The frame was die-cut from Smokey Shadow cardstock and heat embossed with Black Filigree Embossing Powder.  A Dark Chocolate button was added to each side of the frame.  

The sentiment was added to a strip of Classic Kraft cardstock that protrudes from the left of the frame.  This unique card base was created with two pieces of Canyon Clay cardstock that are held together with a spine made from Smokey Shadow cardstock that has been stamped with Background Basics: Gingham in True Black ink.  I also added some stitching up either side.

The edge of the front cover is cut with the Edgers #3 die and also impressed with the Lace Impressions die.

My next project showcases how many of the sentiments were specifically selected for card making occasions from the broad collection of Jane Austen quotes available.

The frame was die-cut from Aqua Mist cardstock and stamped with VersaMark.  The smaller cameo silhouette was die-cut from Aqua Mist cardstock as well.  

Three Harvest Gold buttons were added to the top of the frame with rustic cream button twine.

A decorative strip was added under the frame made from white cardstock and stamped with Background Basics: Gingham using Aqua Mist ink.  A bit of the Pinking Shears border die in Aqua Mist was added at the bottom edge.  The sentiment (another one of my favorites) was added using True Black ink.

The Harvest Gold background was impressed with the Lace Impressions die and stitched around the border.

This card & sentiment are perfect for sending a girlfriend who may live far away or any other recipient you can think of.

The frame was stamped onto the Fine Linen card front with Fresh Snow ink.  Layers cut with Limitless Layers 2.25" Oval dies were added on top of that.  Stamped with the large cameo image in Haystack Palette ink.  The rose was die-cut from Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped with the coordinating image in Sweet Blush & Spring Moss.  I added a bit of 1/8" silk ribbon underneath the rose for added texture.

The sentiment was stamped in Smokey Shadow and the decorative accents on either side in Spring Moss.  I finished them off with a small adhesive pearl.

All of this was adhered to a Sweet Blush card base.

I have something a bit more bright and bold for this birthday card.

I impressed the Cover Plate: Quatrefoil die into Simply Chartreuse cardstock for the cover.  The frame was die-cut from Classic Kraft cardstock and stamped with VersaMark.  The sentiment, another one of Jane Austen's famous quotes,  was stamped in Smokey Shadow &  Summer Sunrise.

I added these roses in two layers, stamped in Summer Sunrise & Simply Chartreuse.

Summer Sunrise Swiss Dot Ribbon was wrapped around the card and tied at the side to keep it closed.

In the interest of full disclosure, we would like to make those of you who have already purchased our Fine Linen felt know that our new Kraft felt may be a bit of a redundant purchase. Because of the similarities, we are revisiting the Fine Linen felt with the manufacturer. It is possible that we will be making changes to Fine Linen in the future, but we will make sure to let you know if that occurs.

Now that I have had the opportunity to make a few of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

For my first project today I thought I would share a baby card with you.  This entire card is stamped, no pre-printed patterned paper used!

For the floral background, I used a few of the decorative elements from Mat Stack 5 Collection to build pretty floral stripes on Soft Stone cardstock.  I used Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides & Spring Moss inks.  I then ran the piece through my die-machine with the Lace Impressions die using the embossing sandwich with a tan polymer mat.  I brushed the edges of the finished piece with Smokey Shadow ink.  I just LOVE the way the Lace Impressions die adds so much to a design like this.

I also create some bold striped paper by stamping the widest stripe from Distressed Stripes onto Soft Stone cardstock with Aqua Mist ink.  Again, this was swiped with Smokey Shadow ink around the edge.  I added a bit of stitching to the seam between the two patterns.

I die-cut white cardstock with the Mat Stack 5 die and stamped one of the two full-size mat images from Mat Stack 5 Collection in Smokey Shadow.  I then added an image from Giga Guidelines to it's center with Aqua Mist, stamping off first on scrap paper to get a very light shadow effect.  

I stamped the sentiment from Script Sentiments onto a strip of vellum using Ocean Tides ink.  I fastened each end of the strip in place with tiny Soft Stone buttons.

For my next project I thought it would be fun to mix the new Mat Stack 5 Collection with the previously released Button Boutique.

I die-cut Vintage Cream cardstock with the Mega Mat Stack 5 die and stamped either side with one of the large bracket images from Mat Stack 5 Collection using Spring Moss ink.  I added elements from Button Boutique to the top & bottom of the mat using the same color.  For the center portion, I die-cut layers using the new Limitless Layers 2.25" Oval die collection in Classic Kraft and Melon Berry.  The sentiment from Button Boutique was added to the center of the Kraft circle with Dark Chocolate ink.  All of the layers were edged with the Tea Dye Duo.  I also added three small Classic Kraft buttons to the top of the sentiment oval with rustic cream button twine.

I layered and looped some Classic Kraft Grosgrain Ribbon under the focal point.  Just LOVE the color of this... such a great neutral to have on hand!

The background of the Melon Berry card base was stamped with Background Basics: Tin Types using Haystack Palette ink.

I have a wedding card for you now that has a modern whimsy feel to it.

I started by die-cutting the Mat Stack 5 die from the center of a block of Classic Kraft cardstock.  I cut a piece of Fine Linen about the same size and placed it under the Kraft.  I was then able to stamp through the opening with all of these different elements from Mat Stack 5 Collection.  I used Pure Poppy, Canyon Clay, Terracotta Tile, Ripe Avocado & Spring Moss inks.  I also ran the Kraft layer through my die-machine with the Woodgrain Impression Plate and inked the texture with the Tea Dye Duo for more definition.

After that was completed, I assembled the card.  I decided to do something a little fun with the sentiments and fold a strip of Dark Chocolate cardstock into a fun looped banner.  I folded it the way I would like and then opened it back up to do the stamping.  The sentiments are from Mat Stack 5 Collection and Happily Ever After, stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with Gold Filigree Embossing Powder.

I tied 1/8" Silk Ribbon around the bottom portion of the card twice to help add a little visual balance.

I love how easy it is to fill the Mat Stack 5 space with the elements specifically from the Mat Stack 5 Collection.     It literally makes projects like these effortless!

Plaid flowers, a bold alphabet and beautiful script take center stage on the Papertrey Ink playbill today! First, though, our opening act.

That's quite an opener, don't you think? We were so pleased with how much you loved the Block Alphabet lower case that we introduced in November that we decided to expand it. I'm so happy to introduce Block Alphabet Upper Case and Block Alphabet Numbers.

So now that we have all of the details out of the way, how about some projects?

I wanted to start today with this bright and cheerful card using Flower Fusion #12.  This may be the last of the collection, but it may very well be one of the best!

I die-cut the flowers from white cardstock and stamped them with the coordinating flower image using Hawaiian Shores & New Leaf inks.  The centers are finished with Hawaiian Shores & Simply Chartreuse buttons.

I love the little scalloped detail in the leaves of this set.  I stamped them onto Hawaiian Shores, New Leaf & Simply Chartreuse cardstocks and cut them out.  I stitched the stems with my sewing machine and then adhered the leaves into place.

The sentiment, from Script Sentiments, was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with White Filigree Embossing Powder.

The New Leaf card base was stamped with the hexagon pattern strip from Rosie Posie using VersaMark.

Now for something fun that gives a fresh use for one of my favorite new dies.  

I cut 2-1/2" wide strips of a rainbow of cardstocks and die-cut them with just the top portion of the new Front & Center #2 die, trimming the top edge along the straight portion of the handle opening.  

I layered all of the scallops on top of one another to create a beautiful card front.  The cardstocks I used (from top to bottom) are Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Autumn Rose, Scarlet Jewel, Dark chocolate. Ocean Tides and Ripe Avocado.

All of them were assembled onto a Smokey Shadow card front.  I love how all of these colors look together as well as the detail and intricacy of all the "pierced" holes lined up.

I added a strip of Smokey Shadow cardstock to the top of the scalloped layers and heat embossed the "You're Amazing" sentiment (from Script Sentiments) with True Black Filigree Embossing Powder.  A line of stitching at the bottom of the sentiment strip serves as a finishing touch.

Can you imaging this creation in other fun color schemes as well.  *happy sigh*  :)

I decided to use the whimsical plaid flower from Flower Fusion to create a pretty background for my next project.

I stamped the fern image from Turning a New Leaf with Ripe Avocado, the plaid flower  with Autumn Rose and the button centers with Scarlet Jewel.  I also used the dot trio from Flower Fusion #11 to fill in some empty spaces using Dark Chocolate ink.

At the bottom of the card, I added a Ripe Avocado strip containing the "just because" sentiment stamped in Vintage Cream.  The Rickrack die was used to cut an Autumn Rose border.

A single Scarlet Jewel button is tied with a bit of rustic jute button twine as a finishing touch.

I stitched around the perimeter of the card with my sewing machine.

My last project today has a bit more of a modern feel.

I used the new Block Alphabet Upper dies as well as the Block Alphabet Numbers for this project.  These die collections are wired together, just as the original Block Alphabet dies, and comes with magnetic sheets for storage.

I die-cut the characters from Raspberry Fizz, Simply Chartreuse, Orange Zest, Canyon Clay and Summer Sunrise.  I adhered them in a line and then added a single line of stitching across the top of all of them.

The "Love You" sentiment from Script Sentiments was added above the stitching using True Black ink.

I stamped the corner of the Kraft card front with Stitches & Swirls using Fresh Snow ink.  I then added some shadowing around the floral images using a T1 Copic marker.

Introducing Tag-Its #12, Happily Ever After and Celebrations

Welcome to Day 2 of our preview of the January Release. Today's showcased items are all about the important celebrations in your life - and making them memorable for everyone involved.

To go along with all of those festive celebrations, how about a new Front & Center die? Front & Center #2 features a scalloped top with a special cut-out detail that reminds me of eyelet fabric. It add just the right touch to your favors, letting you transform ordinary lunch bags into something your guests will never forget.

Our next introduction is a set of dies for which we've received numerous requests! I'm so happy to introduce dies to match our classic stamp set, Fancy Flourishes.

Ready for some tag making? Tag-Its #12 is the twelfth in a series of round frames with coordinating sentiments and images that will fit into a 1-3/4" circle shape. You will love mixing and matching all of the frames and sentiments and images from all of the Tag-Its sets and also from stamps in your own collection! The circle frame in this set has a vine pattern on it and is designed so the 1-3/4" circle punch will fall in the center of the outside border, leaving a border on your punched circle edge. The vine and leaf images and patterns in this set will give a botanical feel to your projects.

The details:

• The circular frame measures just over 1-3/4" in diameter. The heart image measures 7/8" wide and is just under 3/4" wide. The "just because" sentiment measures just under 1/2" tall and is just over 3/4" wide.

Now onto the fun part, the projects!

For my first projects today I put together a little ensemble that would be appropriate for a wedding.  To begin, here is a look at the card.  I started by running my Sweet Blush card front through my die machine with the Argyle Impression Plate.  I hadn't used that golden oldie for some time and I had forgotten how much I love it!

To create the focal point, I die-cut Hibiscus Burst cardstock with the Celebrations Frame die and stamped it with the coordinating frame from Celebrations stamp set using Raspberry Fizz ink.  On a strip of white cardstock, I stamped the sentiments "for the happy couple on your" and "wedding day" from Happily Ever After with Smokey Shadow ink.  I then added the small flourishes on each side, finished with a small rhinestone.

The bottom border is Hibiscus Burst cardstock stamped with Lace Bouquet using Raspberry Fizz ink.

I created a coordinating envelope for my project by utilizing our Envelope Liner die. 

I die-cut a piece of Hibiscus Burst cardstock that was first stamped with Lace Bouquet in Raspberry Fizz as well.

A coordinating bag was also created using the new Front & Center #2 dies.  For those of you who may be unfamiliar with our Front & Center dies, they essentially cut a large piece of cardstock into a bag front and back that can be adhered to either side of a lunch bag.  Here, I have die-cut two pieces using Front & Center #2 with Sweet Blush cardstock.  After cutting, I used the Argyle Impression Plate with the bottom portion of the bag.  I then added a strip of the same lacy Hibiscus Burst cardstock I used on my other projects.

For the tag, I turned the Celebrations frame die-cut on it's end and added the coordinating frame again.  I stamped either end of the open center strip with a flourish from the Mat Stack 5 Collection.  I die-cut an oval from white cardstock and stamped the additional sentiments from Happily Ever After in Smokey Shadow.  This was all finished off with a Raspberry Fizz Swiss Dot bow tied to the handle of the gift bag.

I love the handle detail of the new Front & Center #2 die.  The large scallops paired with the pierced holes that create a border just look stunning in person.

The finished ensemble is definitely something I would be proud to bring to any wedding celebration!

Now for a completely different direction, a masculine graduation card.  This card is very simple in design and super easy to execute.

I started by stamping the bottom set of Distressed Stripes in Canyon Clay and Summer Sunrise.  This was followed by the word "Hurray" from Celebrations stamped in Smokey Shadow with the left-side aligned with the end of the stripes.  Without re-inking, I stamped the sentiment again on either side of the original.  I then added the second set of stripes above that.  I used the graduate hat from for the Graduate stamped in True Black at the end of the top stripes for balance.

I added the companion sentiment (also from Celebrations) on a strip of Classic Kraft cardstock.  I die-cut & stamped one of the smaller Fancy Flourishes and added it to the end of the bottom set of stripes, accenting it with a few black rhinestones.

I love the way the stripes are offset from each other and look forward to doing more projects using this layout!

I have another super simple card that is perfect for a bride & groom.

I stamped the Tag-its #12 leafy frame onto Kraft cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with White Filigree Embossing Powder.  I punched a piece of Scarlet Jewel cardstock with a 1-1/8" circile punch and stamped it with Polka Dot Basics II using Fresh Snow ink.  The heart (also from Tag-its #12) was stamped with Raspberry Fizz ink onto Hibiscus Burst and cut out by hand.

I stamped the sentiments from Happily Ever After under the focal point using True Black ink and added stitching between the lines using my sewing machine.  I also threaded three Scarlet Jewel buttons onto Rustic Jute Button Twine and adhered them in place with glue dots.

I brushed the edges of the Kraft focal point with Fresh Snow ink and adhered it to my Scarlet Jewel card base.

This card uses some of the large word stamps from Celebrations to create some custom background paper.

I stamped the various words using Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores & Enchanted Evening, stamping a second time after each impression without re-inking.  After stamping, I ran the piece through my die machine with the Sunshine Impression Plate.

I stamped the circular star from Boy Basics: Simple Circles with Hawaiian Shores ink onto Aqua Mist cardstock.  I accented this with a star from Boy Basics: Skater Dude added in Enchanted Evening.  This was punched out with a 7/8" circle punch and added as a small accent.

I created a companion sentiment strip using one of the sentiments from Celebrations.  It was heat embossed onto Enchanted Evening cardstock.

The remainder of the card front was color blocked with Aqua Mist & Hawaiian Shores cardstock.  Imagine this project is several other monochromatic hues!

Next, a fun cheerful Bridal Shower card.

I found that the new Limitless Layers 2.25" Oval die fits well within the new Celebrations Frame die.  I die-cut the frame from Spring Moss cardstock and accented it with a flourish from Celebrations and Polka Dot Basics II.  I die-cut a second layer in white and stamped the "Happy" from Celebrations and the "Bridal Shower" from Happily Ever After.  The frame was accented with a pretty Pure Poppy button and Baker's Twine.

The Simply chartreuse background is stamped with Lace Bouquet using Ripe Avocado ink.  The accent strip is Berry Sorbet cardstock stamped with Background Basics: Gingham using Pure Poppy ink.

All of this was adhered to a Pure Poppy card base.

For my last card today, I have simple card to help show someone support during a difficult time.

the Ocean Tides background was create by suing the new Lace Impressions die with an embossing pad, treating it as an impression plate.  I love how you can get so many looks from this new plate, with this one being more subtle and appropriate for the style of the card.

This accent strip was created with a leaf flourish from Tag-its #12, stamped with Spring Moss ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock.  I stitched the top and bottom with my sewing machine.

I die-cut Spring Moss cardstock and stamped the Tag-its #12 frame onto it with Spring Moss ink.  I then stamped "You are in my prayers." from Beautiful Blessings with Fresh Snow ink onto Kraft cardstock.

Introducing Lace Bouquet, Think Big #12 & Handmade Hodgepodge

Welcome to the January Release. No post-holiday letdown here, just lots of creative ideas to let you make 2012 your most creative year yet! There are so many fantastic items to this month - the next five days are going be so much fun! What is it about lace? It's classic, timeless, and undeniably feminine. One of the most versatile things about lace is just by changing the color, you can change the whole feel - I love that!

This month we're introducing a new concept in our line of dies - the Impression Die. Lace Impressions is the first of its kind, allowing you to gain an adaptable look! Run it through your die cutting machine once, and get a gorgeous impression. Run it through multiple times, and you will be able to selectively punch out areas that you want die cut. Would you like a border cut out? Just punch out those pieces. How about just corners? It's easy to determine exactly which pieces you would like to punch out with Lace Impressions. It's a great combination effect.

The details.

• The Lace Impressions die will be available for sale on January 15th.

• The Lace Impressions die measures 5-1/2" x 4-1/4".  With one pass through your die machine, the pattern will just impress into your cardstock.  With three or four passes, you can selectively punch out different details of the pattern.

Lace Bouquet is a reproduction of vintage lace that is stunningly detailed and beautiful. The large bouquet will work wonderfully as both focal points and backgrounds. The smaller individual pieces can be used to build custom backgrounds or paired in unique ways.

Now that you have all the details, let's take a look at the projects!

This first project is one of my favorites of for today.  I used the large Lace Bouquet image as a focal point for the simple one-layer card.  I inked the bouquet with both Aqua Mist and Spring Moss ink, fading the two into one another.

After stamping the bouquet, I ran the cardstock through my die machine wit the Tin Types Impression Plate to add some subtle texture.  I also inked the edges of the focal point with Smokey Shadow ink and distressed them a bit with my fingernails.

The sentiment, from Think Big Favorites #12, was added on top of the bouquet image using Smokey Shadow ink. 

I created my own custom 1/4" silk ribbon by adding a stripe with a BG11 Copic Marker and tied it around the bottom of the card.  The focal point was adhered to a Soft Stone card base.

This project showcases how you can use the new Lace Bouquet stamp with Copic Markers.

I stamped the bouquet image with Smokey Shadow ink and colored it with light lavender (V91), light pink ((R30), light yellow (Y21) and green (YG93) Copic markers.  I then stamped Background Basics: Text Style II with Smokey Shadow ink over the colored image, stamping off before stamping onto the focal point to make the color a bit lighter.

I added the "Love You" sentiment from the new Script Sentiments set (more about this later on in the week) with True Black ink.  The focal point was adhered to a Kraft card base that had been edged with Fresh Snow ink.

I wrapped the card a few times with Rustic Jute Button Twine and tied it off with a bow.

I added a label to the back of the card using Handmade Hodgepodge.  I stamped the label with Smokey Shadow ink.  This particular label allows you a space to add a date, which I added with black pen.

My next project shows you how a few of the individual flowers in the Lace Bouquet set can be used to create stunning focal points.

I used the new Lace Impressions die with Raspberry Fizz cardstock, running it just once through my machine to take advantage of its impression capabilities.

The focal point was die-cut from Vintage Cream cardstock using the Mat Stack 5 die.  I added leaves from Turning a New Leaf using Ripe Avocado ink and the flowers from Lace Bouquet with Raspberry Fizz ink.  I added one of the large Happy Birthday sentiments from Think Big Favorites #12 in True Black ink.

The strip of Ripe Avocado cardstock was stamped with one of the individual flowers from Lace Bouquet as well in Ripe Avocado ink.  

The back of this card was stamped with one of my favorite labels from the new Handmade Hodgepodge set.

Here's a project that uses the new Lace Impressions die with portions of the openings popped out.

To achieve this, I taped the cardstock to the die and ran it through my machine four times.  I opted to poke out all of the openings, but you can pick and choose what you want to remove to create different design features.

I paired the individual lace flowers (Melon Berry) with leaves from Rosie Posie stamped in Spring Moss.  I cut out the elements and artfully arranged them at the top of the Mat Stack 5 focal point.  I added a few pearls to the center of each bloom.

The sentiments, from Celebrations (a new set from Dawn McVey that you'll be hearing more about throughout the week) were added in Haystack Palette ink and Dark Chocolate.  I turned the phrase into a small banner with Kaft cardstock.

I used half of the Lace Impressions cut Melon Berry cardstock at the bottom of the card.

All of this was adhered to a Spring Moss card base.

Another label added to the back of this card using Handmade Hodgepodge.

this fun birthday card is full of sparkle and style.

The birthday sentiment from Think Big Favorites #12 was stamped in Hawaiian Shores ink.  I then used a 2-way glue pen to apply turquoise glitter to a portion of the sentiment.  This photo doesn't even come close to doing it justice!

I created a Melon Berry lace border by stamping a die-cut Large Scalloped Border with Berry Sorbet ink.  The lower Hawaiian Shores panel is stamped with Stitches & Swirls using Fresh Snow ink.

I tied the final card with a bit of Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot Ribbon and finished it with a Melon Berry button.

The back of the card was stamped with another label from Handmade Hodgepodge.

My last card for you today showcases how the large lace bouquet image can be used to create beautiful backgrounds.  I stamped the bouquet a few times using Summer Sunrise ink onto Harvest Gold cardstock.  

I die-cut layers of Lemon Tart & Stamper's Select cardstock with the new Limitless Layers 2.25" Oval dies.  The white standard oval was stamped with "bride & groom" from Love & Marriage and then I added "so happy for you both" from the new Happily Ever After set.

I added layers of Smokey Shadow Bitty Dot Ribbon under the sentiment frame which helped to accent the Smokey Shadow card base.

Once again, the back of this card is stamped with another one of the labels from Handmade Hodgepodge.
