Today kicks off the official May Release from Papertrey Ink and I couldn't be more thrilled about what we have in store for you! There is a little bit of everything this month. Bold & modern, vintage distressed, clean & simple... it's all here!
I am starting things off with this fun new sentiment concept that builds from a set of beautiful script die-cut words. The basic words were chosen to have both card-making and scrapbooking applications. The companion stamp set, Wonderful Words Additions, is chock full of companion sentiments that help "finish" phrases using the large die cut words. For example the stamp "i love" can be combined with the die-cut "you" to form the phrase "i love you". The combinations are endless, as you will see below with today's examples.
The details.
- Wonderful Words Additions stamp set will be available for purchase on May 15th.
- It will retail for $24.
- Wonderful Words Additions stamp set contains a total of 26 companion phrase finishing sentiments.
- PLEASE NOTE: Wonderful Words Additions stamp set does NOT include the script words necessary to complete the phrases. The script words are available only as a separate die collection, described below.
- A coordinating die collection that includes 4 large script word dies. This dies collection will be available for purchase separately for $12. Happy (3-1/2" x 1-3/4"), You (2" x 1-1/4"), Lucky (2-7/8" x 1-3/4"), Forever (3-7/8" x 1-3/4").
Today I am also introducing a few new things from Dawn McVey!
First a new stamp set. A happy little whale that is clean & basic in design is the central focus of this charming set. The companion sentiments are tastefully punny and have a wonderful style about them. The coordinating die for the whale allows this set to be full of possibilities.
The details.
- Whale Wishes will be available for purchase on May 15th.
- It will retail for $5.
- Whale Wishes contains a total of 9 stamps (1 whale, 2 spout companion images and 6 sentiments)
- A coordinating die for the whale image will be available for purchase separately for $4. The die measures 2-1/4" x 1-1/4".
I also wanted to introduce you to a new Impression Plate that Dawn designed. Cane Print is an up and coming trend in all industries, and now you can apply the pattern to any color you wish! One side of the impression plate features the print at a 45-degree angle and the opposite side at 90-degrees, giving you design options.
The details.
- The Cane Print Impression Plate will be available for sale on May 15th.
- It will retail for $16.
- The Can Print Impression Plate is double-sided and measures 4-1/2" x 5-3/4".
Now, onto some fun projects using all these goodies!
This first card showcases a fun look you can achieve with the die-cut words from the Wonderful Words die collection.
It started with some of the images Flower Fusion #4 stamped to create a floral collage of sorts using Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise & Simply Chartreuse.
A piece of Simply Chartreuse cardstock was trimmed down to a 4x4 square and the center is die-cut with the Limitless Layers 2.5" Circle. After the center was cut out, I ran the frame through my Big Shot with the Cane Print Impression Plate.
The flower print was a bit too bright for my intended look so I toned it down with a piece of vellum. I die-cut the word "happy" from Raspberry Fizz cardstock and adhered just the "h" and the "y" on either side of the frame opening.
The companion sentiment from Wonderful Words Additions was stamped on a strip of Clear Cardstock using Black Noir ink.
I adhered the clear strip with a single glue dot behind the first and last letters of the sentiment. I love the detail & dimension that the word die allowed me to create so easily!
Here's a little project that utilizes the negative space leftover after die-cutting a word.
I brushed some white paint across a piece of Kraft cardstock, allowed it to dry and die-cut the word "you" from it. I stamped the "i love" in True Black. The heart was die-cut from vintage book print from an old book using a Heart Prints die.
The background was created with Polka Dot Basics II stamped with Fresh Snow ink on Fine Linen cardstock.
Now for a clear card that showcases the amazing layering abilities that these die-cut words can create.
I stamped a clear card base with the marigolds image from Year of Flowers Collection using Fresh Snow ink. This required a bit of a heat set, but you could use white Staz-On ink if you wanted to skip that. It's just not as vibrant. The companion sentiment was heat embossed on Ocean Tides cardstock and then added the die-cut "you" to overlap the Ocean Tides strip and the clear card front. LOVE this!
For the interior, I die-cut a Limitless Layers 2.5" Circle and stamped it with a wonderful sentiment from Mother using Smokey Shadow ink.
I have always loved clear cards and this one is now one of my favorites!
Now for something bright & full of sunshine!
This project uses the new Watercolor Garden stamp set by Heather Nichols (more about this later on this week!). I stamped the flowers using Terracotta Tile, Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Ripe Avocado and Simply Chartreuse.
the flowers were mounted onto Harvest Gold card base. The companion sentiment was stamped onto Kraft cardstock using True Black ink. "Forever" was die-cut from True Black cardstock and added above the sentiment strip.
Now for a few projects using the adorable Whale Wishes!
Whale Wishes works beautifully with Modern Basics. As you can see here, I stamped the whale in Spring Rain. I added a "fin" to the whale using one of the design elements from Modern Basics stamped in Pure Poppy. The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow.
I used Modern Basics to create this pattern on Pure Poppy cardstock using Versamark ink. The other pattern is from the Men of Life paper pad. All of this is mounted on a Smokey Shadow card base.
This little number could be used for a wedding, get well wishes and so much more.
The whale was stamped with Aqua Mist ink. The "ocean" was created with vellum cardstock and heat embossed with Background Basics: Twinkle. The top edge was die-cut with the small Scallop Border die upside-down.
I used the Heart Prints dies to die-cut some Vintage Cream felt. The final product was embellished with Aqua Mist buttons & twine. the sentiment was stamped onto the Sweet Blush card front with Smokey Shadow ink.
I adore the softness of this project and the texture that the felt adds to it!
I have one more quick & easy project for you, a little baby boy card.
The whale was stamped onto Enchanted Evening cardstock using the matching ink.
I stamped Spring Rain cardstock with Background Basics: Gingham using Versamark ink. The top edge was cut with the Rickrack border die. The Spring Moss layer was hand-cut to look like rolling hills. This was stamped with the stripes from Background Basics: Retro using Fresh Snow ink.
I hope you enjoyed all the creative goodness I shared with you today. As you can see all of the products I introduced are versatile, stylish options to add to your stamping arsenal!
