Lisa Johnson inspired an entire stamping community with her stamp set, Life, last year. This year she has developed an additions set that will take the original set to all new levels, Larger Than Life.
Larger Than Life is exactly that. It is a collection of the original images from Life only increased in size several times over (see the above graphic for a size comparison). The difference in scale between the sets opens up so many new design opportunities, which Lisa has showcased on her blog the last few days HERE, HERE and HERE.
Now, the new scale options are enough to get me inspired, but the addition of a new die has me practically giddy. You will love being able to add dimension with this helpful resource!
The details.
- Larger Than Life will be available for sale on November 15th.
- It will retail for $15.
- Larger Than Life contains a total of 7 images (5 stems of leaves/flowers and 2 small accent flowers).
- A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $16. This single die features coordinating shapes for all five of the stemmed images in Larger Than Life.
Let's get to the projects, shall we?
I thought I would start out with a pretty little trio I like to can Bouquets & Banners.
It all started by cutting out all the Larger Than Life die shapes at once and challenging my self to use them all.
Here's the first card, using the bold branch image. I love how easy it is to get that "cut-out" look without having to get out the scissors. I never would have cut this out by hand before the die!
The background of the card is Fine Linen cardstock impressed with the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. The Mat stack 4 shape is impressed with the Woodgrain Impression plate.
The die cut branch is tied with a bit of Rustic Jute button twine. The sentiment (from Everyday Button Bits) is stamped on the Double Ended Banner Die, cut from Spring Moss cardstock.
This card is identical accept for a substitution of greenery.
I inked the top part of the flower with Sweet Blush ink and added a few pearls to it's center.
Just the flower is tied with twine this time, with the greenery adhered directly to the background.
This uses two of the more delicate branches.
I love their graceful curves.
Overall, a unique set of cards that are easy to mass-produce, thanks to the new scale of Larger Than Life, paired with the convenience of the Larger Than Life die!
The new larger size of the blooms in Larger Than Life are a perfect complement to Friendship Jar!
I stamped the jar in a subdues Smokey Shadow onto white cardstock. I then added the "stems" from Larger Than Life using Spring Moss ink.
The flower image (also from Larger Than Life) was stamped twice for each inking using Spring Rain ink. The second stamping provides a lighter, softer more subdued "shadow" to each flower.
I used the label image and sentiment from Friendship Jar, all heat embossed with Filigree white powder.
The scalloped border was stitched in place with my sewing machine to give the card a more homey look.
The background was created with Polka Dot Basics II and Fresh Snow ink. I love how soft and pretty this turned out! And what a great way to get more versatility from the jars!
Since my first four projects used soft pastels, I thought I would do a bold project next.
My card base was created with Terracotta Tile cardstock, with all the images stamped in True Black. It is SO much easier to achieve this look with the new scale found in Larger Than Life. Before with the original set I had to "stack" a lot of the images on top of each other to gain enough height, now there is no need to. I love that I have so many options!
I stamped Text Style II across the bottom with Versamark ink. I then trimmed one end off of the Double Ended Banners die-cut and added the sentiment found in the original Life set.
A few swipes of Tea Dye Duo help to make this project more rich. Definitely a perfect feel for autumn.
