Here we are, already to day 4 of the countdown! It's hard to believe, isn't it?!?
Today I have some extra special projects to share with you using two new stamp sets, both perfect for so many different types of projects!
Anyone who is a dedicated blog reader of Michelle Wooderson knows how much she loves winter & Christmas. She was able to use the passion to create eight pages of ideas for the holiday version of this set, so needless to say there just *might* possibly have to be another one designed for next year! *wink*
Her vision for a Holiday Fillers set addition has come to fruition and will be a great companion to the original Friendship Jar set. This new set is chock FULL of amazing ways to fill the original jar for both winter and Christmas. From beautiful shimmering snowflakes to whimsical snowman, holiday sweets and more, you will not be disappointed with the amazing creations that await you with this set!
The details.
- Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers will ba available for purchase on October 15th.
- It will retail for $24.
- Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers includes a total of 27 stamps (5 full-size jar filler images, 4 companion images, 1 jar handle and 17 sentiments)
- All of these images coordinate with the original Friendship Jar stamp set.
I always enjoy getting to introduce the latest Year of Flowers set to you! They are so fun to use and add so much to any project! This month's flower, the marigold, is no exception. I just adore how this image turned out and the depth and detail it conveys. Definitely one of my favorites that I've drawn thus far! It also features sentiments that are interchangeable between all of the sets as well as "month" stamps that can be combined to make a calendar.
The details.
- Year of Flowers: Marigolds will be available for purchase on October 15th.
- It will retail for $15.
- Year of Flowers: Marigolds contains a total of 8 stamps (2 flowers, 1 leaf, 1 stem and 4 sentiments)
- The sentiments are interchangeable with the other sets in the Year of Flowers series.
Let me show you a few of the things I created with these gorgeous new sets!
First up is a project that is all about peppermint goodness!
I die cut & stamped my jar, then followed up with the new peppermint candy filler from Friendship JAr Holiday Fillers.
I die cut this topper and stamped the coordinating image from the original Friendship Jar set and added the sentiment from the new additions set. After coloring the image in, I used my Colorless Blender to add a gingham pattern to the fabric portion of the lid.
Here is the assembled focal point. It's the cutest, isn't it?
To help ground the bottom of the card, I added strips of ribbon and a strip of Christmas Prints striped paper. I love how this turned out.
The background was stamped with the stripe image from Background Basics: Retro with Fresh Snow ink on Pure Poppy cardstock.
This project showcases one of the most fun aspects of the new set, a little idea originally suggested by one of our very own customers, Janice (quilter422).
A little handle to add to the jar. Clever, isn't it!
You can fill your new mug up with the solid filler image from the original Friendship Jar stamp set, then top it off with marshmallows from the new fillers set!
I added a bit of color to the marshmallows by using Fresh Snow ink and a q-tip, rubbing the ink in a circular motion.
Here's the final focal point. I used lots of chocolate browns in my project to go along with the cocoa theme!
I added a little scrap of grosgrain ribbon to the top of the focal point along with two Fine Linen buttons.
I almost forgot to mention the background paper. It was originally released as part of the Chocolate Remix collection, but it is now sold as part of the Hodge Podge pad!
Now for a comfy, cozy snowflake card.
This trio of snowflakes is perfect for hanging inside the jar (it would also make beautiful borders!)
Everything is colored with shades of Aqua Mist and Ocean TIdes.
Did you notice the background? It was created with a big swatch of Ocean Tides felt, trimmed with pinking shears around the edges and quilted with my sewing machine. It was quick and easy and created such a unique effect. You just want to touch it when you see it in real life!
The sentiment was added on a trimmed Fillable Frames #9 die cut. I love how versatile dies can be when you start only using portions of them like this.
Here's a project with a bit of an unconventional color scheme...
This little tree image is part of the new set, and it could be stamped repeatedly to fill the jar, OR... you can pair it up with the stick image from Friendship Jar Fall Fillers. Look at that and all it's cuteness!
I created some custom ribbon to coordinate with the way I colored the ornaments on the trees. I started with Fresh Snow satin ribbon and then used a ruler to add multicolor stripes. IT was really quick and easy and helped to tie my whole project together.
Isn't that ribbon just to die for? What other fun color combos can you think of?
The background on the card base was created with Damask Designs. And I can't forget to mention the use of the new Limitless Layers dies! So pretty!
One more little Friendship Jar project. I thought it would be fun to make a little tag...
I die cut & stamped the jar, then added this fun little snowman from the new fillers set.
I folded a piece of Kraft cardstock in half and die cut the jar so the top of it was just above the fold. You will have to run this through twine, flipping the folded side to the back for the second pass, since our cardstock is so thick.
You can add your little to/from to the interior...
And the snowman jar to the front. Adorable, right?!?!?
Now, how about a marigold card? This project just says fall to me...
I stamped the large marigold and then build my large leaf. The set comes with a little stem image and this single leaf. It is super easy to stamp the leaf multiple times around the stem so you end up with something as striking as this.
Copics, my favorite coloring medium of choice...
These flowers in particular are SO much fun t color! Very therapeutic!
After my coloring was completed, I used a craft knife to cut along the ends of the leaves so that I could curl them up slightly, adding dimension.
I love little details like this!
Here's another quick and simple project...
I stamped the smaller marigold onto white cardstock.
I used the Scarlet Jewel Copic Trio to color it in and then cut it out afterwards.
These flowers are so beautiful, your project doesn't need much else to make it feel complete!
I did a bit of random stitching underneath the sentiment, following up with some clear rhinestones scattered about.
There is just something so peaceful and serene about a crisp white card with a touch of color pop, isn't there?
I have one more project for you to show how this set can be used without any coloring. I revisited a technique I used on a card I made for the YOF: Violets countdown back in February.
I heat embossed the flowers on vellum with Filigree White embossing powder.
I then sponged Hawaiian Shores ink on the centers of the flowers, using a circular motion.
I flipped the vellum over and adhered it to an Aqua Mist card base using Scor-tape. The muted pattern is truly breath-taking when you view it from the backside like this. I added the sentiment from Signature Greetings with Black Noir ink.
I love how the pattern continues onto the back... like a little extra surprise!
