In my personal opinion, Halloween is one of the most fun occasions to stamp for. It allows you to step out of the box and have a little fun with your supplies. Do a little something different and experiment with spooky color schemes and more.
Beth Silaika's new set, Been Boo'd, will surely not disappoint you with the amazing possibilities it holds for Halloween stamping and MORE! The set was designed around the them of a popular Halloween neighborhood tradition often referred to as being Boo'd.
A neighbor prepares a small basket or bucket of treats accompanied by a special poem and anonymously drops it off at another neighbors doorstep. A sign is usually also included so it can be posted in someone's window declaring that they have already participated. Once someone has been Boo'd, they reciprocate by surprising other members of the neighborhood. It is best to start in early to mid-October, so eventually the whole neighborhood has participated. Not only is this a fun tradition, but it also can help bring a neighborhood together as a community, just like in the old days.
Now, Beth's new set is definitely not limited to this activity. The whimsical images included in the set give you many options for Halloween projects and beyond!
The details.

Now that we've gone over the basics of these products, let's get into some fun projects!
My first project using this adorable set is showcasing it with it's original intention, a companion to a Been Boo'd basket. For projects like this, it's best to keep it simple, so I just made a tag that can be attached to the package of goodies before it is left on a doorstep or porch.
I started with the Mat Stack 3 die and punches a 1.75" circle from it. This was created with Vintage Cream cardstock. I die-cut a second Mat Stack 3 layer from our clear cardstock and adhered that to the back of the windowed opening I created with the punch.
This moon image from Been Boo'd was stamped with Summer Sunrise ink. I cut it out and applied Prisma Glitter to it using my 2-way glue pen. It was adhered to the clear cardstock visible through the windowed opening of the tag using Scor-tape. I also stamped the star border from this set across the bottom of the tag using the same ink.
Next, I stamped the large bat image from the set with True Black ink and cut it out. By adhering just the center portion of the body to the clear window, I was able to fold the wings up slightly to make it look as though it were in flight. This also added a bit of dimension to the project.
I created a second layer of this tag with Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped the "You've been boo'd" sentiment followed by the poem that Beth included in the set. Both of these were stamped in True Black ink. I die-cut a XL Rickrack border from Summer Sunrise cardstock and applied glitter to it with a 2-way glue pen. This was attached to the bottom of the Vintage Cream tag. Last but not least, I stitched the entire tag to a piece of True Black felt and trimmed the edges with pinking shears.
By punching a 1/8" hole through both layers of the tag, I was able to tie them together with a piece of 1/4" silk ribbon that had a stripe added using a Summer Sunrise Copic marker. I just LOVE how you can see the text of the poem through the windowed opening of the top tag!
This double tag idea is perfect for including all of the components in one compact area without having to make a separate card.
I'm sure the tag would also be a fun keepsake for the recipient as well!
Perhaps you don't have any neighbors or live in a neighborhood that participates in activities like this? It is just as fun to "boo" co-workers on a smaller scale!
For this petite version of the tradition, I started by cutting the new Mat Stack 4 shape from Vintage Cream cardstock. I then stamped one of the large flourishes from Embellishments in all four corners of the tag using Simply Chartreuse ink. The pumpkin from Been boo'd was then added to the center. I inked the pumpkin with both Orange Zest and Simply Chartreuse.
I used the same "You've Been Boo'd" sentiment from my precious project, only this time I bent it slightly before I put it on my block. This allowed it to arch gracefully over the pumpkin.
I added a face to them pumpkin using a small image from Friendship Jar Fall Fillers (more about this set later this week).
The tag was attached to to a popsicle stick using Scor-tape. I also tied a bit of Black Gingham Ribbon to it's base.
To add a bit of adornment to the bucket, I used glue dots to adhere a row of True Black buttons around it. This looks SO adorable in person! After completing your bucket, you can fill it with a favorite Halloween treat and leave it as a surprise on a co-workers desk!
Now, how about a card? There are so many adorable images in this set, I thought it would be fun to use some of them to replace letters in a big, bold Halloween phrase. I ended up selecting the word "spooky" to re-create.
I drew alight pencil line across my white cardstock and started with the letters s & p from the Outlines alphabet.
I placed a punched star shape that I knew I would use later for the first "o" loosely on the cardstock to allow proper spacing. I then used this cute little spider for the second "o".
For the letter "k", I stamped the letter "l" and then used the large bat image to form the arms of the "k".
After adding the "y", I colored all of my letters in with Orange Zest Copic markers and added subtle polka dots using the Colorless Blender. A bit of T1 was used as well to add some shadow to the underside of the letters.
A strip of 1/4" Scor-tape was added and sprinkled with Prisma Glitter to finish it off.
I adore how this turned out and look forward to experimenting with other words to see what I can come up with!
For my last project, I wanted to showcase how this set can have year round applications as well.
I stamped the star border repeatedly in a rainbow of colors to create a festive background. (From left to right) the colors I used were Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse and Aqua Mist.
After trimming the star pattern block down and adhering it to a white card front, I outlined it with two different black pens to create a frame. I also stamped the "Wish Big" sentiment from Big & Bold Wishes.
For a finishing touch I added a white star that has been dipped in Prisma Glitter and adhered with a foam dimensional.
Isn't this set SO fun! I love that the stars can be so appropriate for birthdays and year round occasions as well! What are your first impressions of this newest set from Beth?
