Well, here we go! I just returned from a 2-1/2 week vacation to Maine visiting with my family (I'll share more about that after the release!) and I am refreshed and ready to get stamping! Another exciting release from Papertrey Ink is unfolding and it is an exciting one at that! This is one of the most innovative releases ever for us and we are just thrilled that the time has finally come to start officially introducing everything to you!
We are starting out the week with a very exciting stamp set that I designed featuring a concept by Betsy Veldman. Many of you, like me, admire Betsy for the constant innovations she brings this hobby. The fact that we were able to make one of her concepts become a reality is especially inspiring because it is like we all get an opportunity to stamp with Betsy when we bring this collection into our studios.
This is the original sketch that Betsy sent to me several months ago. As soon as I read through all of her ideas, especially regarding different sentiments that would be appropriate, my mind began running non-stop about all the possibilities.
As shown in Betsy's sketch, Just the Ticket has three interchangeable ticket-style frames that can be mixed and matched with several sentiments and companion oval images. There are even a few line images that can be inserted in the frames so you can add other sentiments from other sets or fill in the blanks with your own handwriting, especially appropriate for scrapbooks.
The details.

- Just the Ticket contains a total of 25 stamps (3 frames, 2 sets of journaling lines, 2 name/date images, 12 sentiments and 6 oval images.)
In order to make this set user-friendly, I have also designed an amazing, one-of-a-kind die that can be used with this stamp set.
This ticket border die is unique for several different reasons. It includes perforation lines between each ticket, allowing to leave them intact as a border or rip them apart and use them as singles. I love, LOVE, love that I am able to achieve the official "tear" lines on either side of a ticket when using one alone. It looks just like the real thing!
Another thing you may notice is that the ends of the border are "open". This allows you to line-up the die more than once on a single sheet of paper, end to end, which enables you to create borders as long as you like. This is perfect for accommodating to scrapbookers without having to pay for a full 12" die!
The details.
- The Just the Ticket Border Die will be available to purchase on July 15th.
- It will retail for $8.
- The Just the Ticket Border Die measures 7" long and 1" tall. A single ticket, when torn from the border after die-cutting, measures 1.75" long and 1" tall.
- This die features perforated lines between each individual ticket. You can leave them intact to use as a border, or tear them off to use individually.
Now that I've given you all of the basics, let's get onto some projects!

The first project I have to share with you today is a scrapbook layout using the tickets as a border. I stumbled across this old photo when I was looking through some things. It was taken back in 2002 when Owen was only two-years old, showing him being held by my sister, Jen. It is amazing how fast time flies by! I can't even come close to picking Owen up now!
Here's a little tutorial about how the new die & stamps work together for this set. Here, I have diecut white cardstock with the Just the Ticket die. Notice the perforated lines between the tickets! So fun! I then stamped one of the border images in each ticket section using Ocean Tides ink.
Here I have added on of the date grid images into one of the frames. Note that either end of the top horizontal double line go corner to corner in the frame. If you match these points up when stamping within the frame, you'll get perfect results every time!
I added 2002 to the top using an image from Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger. I wanted a rustic looking circle to highlight "July" but didn't have anything in my collection that would fit the bill. Then it occurred to me that if I could find a button with a rim on it, I could use that as a stamp. And it worked out really well as you can see above.
For the other tickets in the strip, I stamped a title/sentiment first. Don't you just love this font combo?!?!?
Next, I added one of the oval fill-in images. These tickets end up looking so realistic, you will be putting them on everything!
Here's a close-up view of the final ticket border. The idea that I can make these in so many custom themes, colors & designs is just beyond exciting for me! I also wanted to point out that I used Dot Spot in the background for some visual interest.
The title for my layout was created using the Outlines Alphabet as well as Simple Alphabet for the sub-title.
For this portion of the journaling, I stamped a line image from Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger and added some letter stickers from Making Memories. I love the staggered look of these.
This layout was so fun to create, especially when it came time for the ticket border. It's a unique accent that I look forward to using on many other projects soon.
This is a quick little card I put together that could be done in any number of color schemes to suit the recipient. It also showcases how you can use sentiments from many other stamp sets within the boundaries of the ticket borders. Here I used "Celebrate Today" from Friendship Jar and "Just a Note" from Take Note. Another set that works well is Mega Mixed Messages. I'm sure you could find many others within your stash once you begin experimenting yourself!
One fun addition you can make to the tickets is to overlay patterns over the text using your background stamp collection. I used Background Basics: Woodgrain on the Orange Zest ticket and Background BAsics: Text Style II on the Summer Sunrise ticket. Also keep in mind that patterned papers would work well too.
Notice that that I ripped the tickets apart to use them as singles for this project. You can see the perforated texture on each end which I just ADORE! Makes them look so realistic! I added some staples as an accent at the far edge as an added detail.
Did you notice the pattern on the Smokey Shadow background? It was created with one of our new impression plates for this month, Book Prints. I will be sharing more about this later on in the week, but isn't it amazing? I've always loved letter backgrounds like this and it is so great having it paired with a letterpress look.
The border was created with Around & About Sentiments stamped onto a strip of Simply Chartreuse cardstock. I love the pop of color as well as how well this set complements Just the Ticket. I know I will be pairing up these two sets often in the future!
This card is so simple, it could be easily mass-produced to create little notecard sets or anything else that your creativity desires!
This sweet little baby card uses Heather Nichols' new set from last month, entitled Night, Night Moon. The duck image from the set was integrated into one of the oval accents in Just the Ticket, so I thought it was fitting to pair the two on a project together.
To begin, I die-cut the new Spiral Notebook Page die (more details about this later in the week) from Rustic White cardstock.
I then stamped the star border from Night, Night Moon a few times to cover it using Summer Sunrise ink. I also swiped a bit of Tea Dye Duo ink around the edges.
I stamped the adorable duck image from Night, Night Moon onto some new felt in our new color for this month, Harvest Gold (I will be sharing more about this later in the week as well!) By stamping it in Dark Chocolate Palette ink, it dried quickly and was permanent.
I cut out the duck and layered it on top of a piece of Vintage Cream felt die-cut with a Beautiful Blooms die. I also added a stitched circle with embroidery floss. I love little felt accents like this. They always appear to be so homespun and welcoming, which is exactly what you want for a baby project!
Here's a close-up shot of the top of the Spiral Notebook Page. I love the detail I was able to achieve when designing this die, complete with a realistic perforation line.
The ticket I used on this project couldn't have been more appropriate.
Both the sentiment and image added to it were the perfect companion for the other accents used on the project.
A strip of Dotty Biscotti paper was added to the center of the card. I love how this project turned out and I am anxious to send it off to its special recipient!
This last project was designed as a party invitation, but with a different sentiment it could be used for a variety of occasions.
I used the Spiral Notebook page die once again, only this time with Kraft cardstock. I stamped the airplane from Fly Away using Black Noir ink and then colored it in with the Copic markers shown. I also used a bit of the Tea Dye Du around the edges of the page.
I felt as if there was too much "blank space" so I opted to fill the entire sheet with text from Background Basics: Text Style II using Versamark ink. It did the job perfectly.
Here I have added the sentiment from Just the Ticket in the corner. I wanted showcase that you can use the many sentiments in the set by themselves without the support of the ticket frames and ticket die. It's a great font combination that can add a lot of pizazz to almost any project.
I wanted to do something a bit different as an accent, so I die-cut two small clouds from cotton batting (you could also use polyester, whatever you have on hand.)
Here's the finished focal point. Don't all of the elements combine beautifully? You could also create a similar project using Enjoy the Ride for more options.
I used the other new July Impression Plate for this project. I will be providing full details about this later on in the week and the It's Official stamp set it coordinates with! Isn't it fabulous?!?!? Dawn McVey designed this with a lot of detail which gives amazing results, especially when you get to see them in person.
Now, wouldn't it be fun to use these tickets as actual tickets for a party? Here, I am showing a small ticket that could be tucked in an envelope along with the invitation. The sentiment is so appropriate.
The back of the ticket features our other "name/date" image. You can add the party information on the back of the ticket.
An easy project that packs a lot of punch!
