I have one more introduction for you today, the last day of this fabulous June countdown. Who can forget the next addition in the Year of Flowers series? For the month of June we are introducing you to the rose! Featuring beautiful rose illustrations I created along with sentiments that are interchangeable between all of the Year of Flowers sets. And don't forget the "month" stamps that can be combined to make a calendar; the entire collection is a must have!
The details.
- Year of Flowers: Roses will be available on June 15th.
- It will retail for $15.
- Year of Flowers: Roses contains a total of 7 stamps (1 large rose, 1 rosebud, 1 leaf and 4 sentiments)
- The sentiments are interchangeable with the other Year of Flowers stamp sets: Violets, Daffodils, Sweet Peas and Lily of the Valley.
I am excited to share my rose creations with you today! Let's get started.
This first project is the perfect idylic wedding card. The full, pink rose. The crisp white. And I love that the rose is able to carry the whole project, nothing else needed other than the white card base.
I stamped the large rose first, using Black Noir ink.
Then I did the same thing with the rosebud, in a separate corner of my white cardstock.
I colored the roses in with the Sweet Blush Copic Trio. This flower is super fun to color! I know you will enjoy the process just as much as I did!
Here's a closeup of the completed rose. Sighhhhhh.... doesn't it just take your breath away?!?!? By the way, I forgot to mention that the leaves were colored with the Ripe Avocado Copic Trio.
Both the rose & the rosebud were cut out, as you can see here. The rosebund was inserted under the edge of the large rose's petals. I love how the flowers overlap the handrawn black frame around the perimeter, breaking things up a bit.
The sentiment in this month's set was the perfect thing to be paired up with the rose, I thought. A true wedding classic, not to mention that the wedding sentiment will go so well with many of the other Year of Flowers sets!
I love how this turned out and I hope that it leaves you totally inspired!
This next project doesn't use a bit of coloring, for those of you who shy away from that technique. I did an easy paper piecing process, which works absolutely beautifully with this image.
I stamped the large rose twice onto the Aqua Mist dot paper included in Heather's new Library Ledger Paper Pad. I used Dark Chocolate ink for this to give it a warmer vintage look. I then cut out one whole rose and just the center portion of the other. When layered on top of each other, you end up with a beautiful, realistic, full-bodied rose. The leaves were paper pieced as well, using Spring Moss cardstock.
I cut a strip from another pattern in Library Ledger to create a sentiment border. I stamped "always on my mind" (from Vintage Picnic Sentiments) in Dark Chocolate ink. I trimmed the top and bottom of the strip with scalloped scissors and swiped them a bit with my Tea Dye Duo.
Let me just say that I totally LOVE the way this background turned out. I used Kraft cardstock with the new In Bloom Impression Plate, then swiped the entire surface thoroughly with my Vintage Cream ink pad. It really made the pattern pop and it looks just stunning in real life! Just wait til you get to try this yourself!
When you put all these elements together, you end up with a perfectly understated project that is full of warmth and love!
For my last card, I decided to keep it really simple to show off the fact that the rose image is so detailed and so pretty on it's own, you don't need much else to go with it on a project. I just stamped my entire Simply Chartreuse background with Frsh Snow ink. I only had to stamp the rose four time to cover my 5" x 5" background, which was quick and easy.
The sentiment is another new stamp from the Year of Flowers: Roses set. I just love the meaning behind this and have several people in my life that it will be perfect for. The end of the sentiment strip is torn and stitched to add a bit of character.
I used a black pen and ruler to add a double frame around the edge of my card front. I also swiped the edges of the Simply Chartreuse paper with my Fresh Snow ink pad.
Since school is out here, Hannah has been spending a lot of time in my studio with me. She was "helping" me today while I was making these projects, and she created her own rose card that she really wanted me to share with you today. She said that this way, people would see that it was the perfect set for kids to work with too. And she also wanted me to pass on the fact that she thinks that this is "the best set ever"! Gosh, I love that girl!
Aren't the images in this set just breath taking? The large rose is the ultimate in stamp images. Wonderfully luxurious to color, yet big enough to paper piece. You can't beat that! We would love to hear your initial thoughts of this new sets and it's detailed illustrations. We have an amazing prize package put together for you to have a chance to win.
