Tonight I get the opportunity to introduce you to one of Julie & Jane's favorite sets of the year (and I'm pretty fond of it as well *wink*), Asian Fusion, designed by Melissa Bickford. It's full of beautiful Asian influenced florals that have mix & match possibilities with bold vases. Paired with versatile sentiments that feature the perfect font combination to lend themselves to this type of style and beyond.

This first card is my favorite of the bunch. I think it really has a sense of calm about it, which I really, really like. Plus, what's not to love about Spring Moss & Aqua Mist paired together? Add in a bit of Vintage Cream and you have a match made in heaven!
It all started with stamping the vase onto Vintage Cream cardstock using Aqua Mist ink. Don't you just LOVE the shape of this vase? I know I do! There is one solid vase and one outline vase in this set (which I show you a bit later). I love how Melissa gave us options like this, depending on what our preference (or mood!) is that day!
Then I added this bouquet of floral stems using Spring Moss ink. It's soooo easy to line the two up! This is one of three bouquets in the set. All of the little flowers and dots lined up on the branches just makes me happy!

To finish it off, I added the "Thinking of you" sentiment across the bottom of the vase with Dark Chocolate ink. (HELLO! Look at those fonts! LOVE them!) I prepared my Aqua Mist card base by stamping the floral lined border from Asian Fusion on a diagonal using Versamark ink. I added three strips of Spring Moss Twill under the focal point, tucking & looping the middle strip. A few Aqua Mist buttons finished the project up. Don't you just love it!

This card still maintains that "zen-like" feeling, this time in a color scheme of Enchanted Evening & Kraft. I love how I was able to get such a different look by coloring in the outline vase image.
I stamped the outlined vase image onto Stamper's Select cardstock with Black Noir ink and then colored it in with the Copics shown above. I love being able to add dramatic lighting/shading to an object, like this. It definitely gives it more "pop" off the page!
This is a second flower stem image in the set. I love how graceful it is. It's stamped in Fresh Snow ink onto Kraft cardstock. I also added small dabs of color to the centers using my B97 Copic marker. I think that little detail really sets off the flowers.
I added a frame around the card front using a ruler and my trusty white gel pen. The sentiment, also from Asian Fusion, is stamped in True Black ink in the center of the card front. The end result is a classy, sophisticated card that could be used for a variety of recipients!

Can you handle one more card? This card used a border image from Melissa's set to create a frame. Let me show you how I created it!
First I stamped the border with Raspberry Fizz ink, using the edge of my paper as my guide.
I then added the remaining strips needed to complete the frame. I LOVE this look and will definitely incorporate it more in future projects!

I diecut one of Niki's new butterflies to add to the center of my project as a focal point. The layered butterflies are stamped in Hibiscus Burst & Raspberry Fizz. The sentiment can be found in Asian Fusion as well. Just LOVE the styling of these! So pretty and unique! I don't think I've ever seen Raspberry Fizz look this good! :)
Today we are issuing a very special challenge in honor of Asian Fusion and it's origins! Your challenge is to create a project that somehow integrates origami of some sort or another. I have listed a few of my favorite tutorials below for you to start with if you like, but feel free to use one of your own as well.
1. Make a project using some form of origami. It can be an element used for a focal point, something incorporated into the actual card base or even packaging created from origami (like a box or small bag)...
2. Upload a photo of your project to you blog or online gallery.
3. Add the link for your photo to the Mister Linky box below.
4. Those that leave a comment about what they think about Asian Fusion and the projects here today, will also be eligible to win. Those that create a project link in Mister Linky AND comment will have an extra entry. Only one comment per person please.
PEM Origami has an amazing website dedicated to video tutorials for this craft.
I really like the Origami-Fun website, and I think you will too. I especially like her box tutorials. If you are too nervous about incorporating origami into a card project, create an origami box and then have fun decorating it!
Origami Club has some super fun things as well. I personally have used this "cup" tutorial several times to make little candy holders, or even incorporated it into a card's interior to hold a gift card or cash.
NetflixOrigami started out as a bit of a joke, with an artist using Netflix envelopes as his medium. But now there are several great, easy to read tutorials for simple origami there that are super-duper user friendly.
So there's a few things to get you started! I am sure you will find something that inspired you after browsing all of these links!
