You have come to know Papertrey as THE place to go for the most innovative products & designers in the industry! And Michelle Wooderson is one of the best in the business! The two of us have teamed up again to bring you an amazing new stamp set & product line that is the first of it's kind!
One of the projects that Michelle is most well known for is the one-of-a-kind altered notepads she creates. (You can see examples of some of her originals HERE). In an effort to streamline her design process when creating these mini-masterpieces, Michelle sketched out some concepts for a special stamp set designed to be specifically used to embellish them.

These are Michelle's original sketches for you to have a fun peek at! She thought of everything and I fell in love with the entire concept as soon as I laid eyes on it! And I know you will too! There are borders, titles & design accents included that will make creating these little notepads fun, quick & easy!
The details.
- Take Note will be available for purchase on October 15th.
- It will retail for $24.
- Take Note contains a total of 22 stamps (12 titles, 3 borders and 7 companion images).
- Two of the borders are circular which coordinate with 1.75" standard circle punch, 2" EK Success scallop circle punch * Marvy (blue) super jumbo scalloped circle punch.
- All of the titles fit within these circular borders.
- The third border is a large rectangle which aids in creating a perfectly sized mat for the lower portion of the notepad covers.
When we decided to go forward with this stamp set it was obvious that we couldn't make it available without coordinating notepads to go with it! We are excited to introduce Paper Basics Notepads in a unique 2.5" x 8" size, specified specifically by Michelle for these projects!
She traditionally took junior legal pads to Kinko's to have them cut in half for these applications, which was inconvenient AND you were left with that ugly spine cover at the top with the manufacture's information on it. And really, the blue lines they print the pages with don't always coordinate with the color scheme of your project (and we paper crafters are all about color coordination, aren't we!).
The Paper Basics Notepads will be available in two colors.
White with Smokey Shadow lines...
...and Vintage Cream with Dark Chocolate lines!
The details.- The Paper Basics Notepads will be available for purchase on October 15th.
- They will be sold in a set of ten for $6 (that's 60-cents each!).
- Each notepad has 25 one-sided lined pages with a lightweight chipboard backing.
- They measure 2.5" x 8", with the pages gummed together along the top edge.
- Available in either White or Vintage Cream.
Now let's see Take Note and the new notepads in action, shall we?!?!
I decided to use the title "Jot This Down", admittedly it's my favorite from the set! After much consideration, I finally decided to use a color scheme of Smokey Shadow, Spring Moss, Ocean Tides & Vintage Cream.
Here's a closeup of the notepad. Doesn't everything just come together so well when using this stamp set? I stamped the "Jot This Down" title with Smokey Shadow ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock, followed by the border (that coordinates with a 1.75" circle punch) stamped with Ocean Tides. All of this was matted on a scalloped circle of Spring Moss. Behind the title focal point, I stamped the stripes from Background Basics: Retro directly onto the Ocean Tides cardstock using Versamark ink.
I did some button stacking on top of a double row of Vintage Cream Twill. I alternated Ocean Tides on top of Spring Moss and Spring Moss on top of Ocean Tides, held together with glue dots. I love how there is such an eclectic mix of buttons in each bag. It really allows you to get artistic and create unique projects!
I love, LOVE, love the patterned paper I came up with for the bottom portion of my cover. I started with Spring Moss cardstock stamped with the new Text Style II using Smokey Shadow ink. I then stamped some images from Giga Guide Lines using the new Spring Rain pigment ink. It left a faint, faded, vintage look which I really liked! A bit of Vintage Cream ink was sponged around the edges and finally I stamped the rectangular border image from the set with Versamark ink which left a very faint outline. I will definitely be doing this again!
The inside of the notebook is fairly simple. I had left an extra curved flap that was allowed to fold over to the inside of the cover (adhered at just the bottom). This formed a little pocket, perfect for tucking things into. I have included a printable template that you can download below to recreate the same look...

Download Notepad Pocket Cover Template (single)
These templates are actual size, so you can just print and go if you wish.
There are two versions of the download, one for a double notepad, like I showed above, and one for a single notepad. I would love see what you create with this template is you put it to use!
The notepad is adhered in place with Scor-tape. I did something a bit different with the notepad that I thought I would take the time to share with you.
The notepads come with 25 sheets of lined paper attached to a lightweight chipboard backing, coming in at about 1/8" thick. This ended up being the perfect thickness to create portfolio style notepads (which Michelle talks about HERE), but for my application here, I wanted something a bit thicker. So I decided to combine two of them to make it last twice as long and be a bit thicker. I started with two notepads and removed the chipboard backing from one of them.
I stacked the one without the chipboard on top of the other, holding them together firmly, I added 1/4" Scor-tape across the top of the stack. Since the notepads are about 1/8" inch thick each, the 1-4" Scor-tape is a PERFECT, exact fit!
Here's what they looked like after the Scor-tape had been applied.
After removing the paper portion of the tape, I added a 1/4" strip of cardstock to cover the adhesive and prevent it from sticking to anything. Super professional looking, don't you think?!?!?
There you have it! A tour of my little notepad and your first peek at Take Note!
Now for some more inspiration, I challenged the members of the team to each create a unique notebook to inspire you and showcase just how many options are available with this clever little stamp set. Upon seeing all the results, my eyes were opened to even MORE possibilities than I had originally thought possible! So grab a warm beverage and settle in for a little Take Note showcase!
