Today I am proud to introduce a new set from Melissa Bickford,
entitled Peaceful Poinsettia. This set gives you several different
options with different sizes and orientations of poinsettia blooms.
With this variety you can apply your favorite techniques to this set,
whether it be paper piecing, coloring, or quick & simple full-color
stamping.
The details.
- Peaceful Poinsettia will be available for purchase on September 15th.
- It will retail for $24.
- Peaceful Poinsettia contains a total of 19 images (14 images, 1 background building strip and 4 sentiments)
As I said in my introduction in the opening post above, I am keeping it simple this month and showcasing simple designs that can be executed beautifully by any stamper. More importantly, the supplies are limited making them economical and they require very few steps so they will come together quickly and efficiently. My favorite kind of holiday projects!

To start, here's a super simple project using a bit of an unconventional holiday color scheme, Melon Berry & Spring Moss.
To start, I cut a piece of Rustic Cream carstock to measure 4-3/4" by 3-1/2". I stamped three poinsettias in the upper left corner and one in the lower right. A bit of greenery was added using Spring Moss ink. The sentiment (from Dawn's new Signature Christmas set) was added last in Dark Chocolate ink.
The two left corners were rounded with a corner rounder punch, as well as a bit of bling added to the center of each poinsettia.
The card base was created from our kraft cardstock, cut to 4-1/4" by 11", scored in half at 5-1/2". After adhering the focal point created above, to the cover of the kraft card, it's time to create a fun spine. I simply cut a strip of Spring Moss cardstock measuring 2-1/2" x 4-1/4", scored in half length wise @ 1-1/4". Stamp polka dots (from Polka Dot Basics II) twice with Vintage Cream ink (once on either side of the score line so you don't have to be exact when lining them up). Trim long edges with scalloped scissors. The spine is adhered so that it can be seen on the front & back of the card, giving it a really nice polished look.

The interior of the card carries over some of the details from the cover. The interior Rustic Cream block measures 4" x 3-1/4". I stamped the a poinsettia & leaf detail in the upper corner and added a sentiment from the Peaceful Poinsettia set itself in Dark Chocolate ink. A great (and easy) way to complete the inside of the card.
The matching Rustic Cream A2 envelope was stamped with same poinsettia detail in the lower left corner. That special touch with really grab the recipient's attention when they get ready to open their mail!
Not only are these cards simple to make, they use very little supplies, costing a mere 48-cents each to make (including the elegant coordinating envelope!). It will certainly be hard to beat that!

Next is another simple card that features a bit of a bolder color scheme, Ripe Avocado & Enchanted Evening.
The card base is a standard A2 (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored @ 4-1/4"), A Ripe Avocado layer measuring 5" x 3-3/4" is stamped using Versamark ink and Polka Dot Basics II. A strip of Enchanted Evening ribbon is adhered across this layer with the ends folded to the back, before adhering to the Enchanted Evening card cover. An extra layer of the ribbon is added with the ends tucked under to form a loop as an added detail, but you could forgo that step if you like.
The focal point image is made up of a series of image building images that Melissa incorporated into this set. It started with the "Season's Greetings" image stamped in Rip Avocado. The space between the first and second line is designed to perfectly coordinate with this little trio of poinsettias. I stamped them in Enchanted Evening, with a little dot of Smokey Shadow in the center done with a Copic Marker. Last, but not least, I adhered a small clear dome sticker (available in our store beginning September 15th) on top of the center flower. I love the detail this added while still being perfectly mail friendly.
The interior uses a solid circle version of the poinsettia inked in Enchanted Evening. A border from Borders & Corners: Circles stamped in Ripe Avocado frames it out. The sentiment, stamped with Ripe Avocado as well, is found in our Holiday Wishes stamp set. All of this was stamped on a 4" x 5-1/4" block of our famous Vintage Cream cardstock and adhered inside.
The matching Vintage Cream A2 envelope is stamped on the flap this time, using the same set of images that was used on the interior of the card.
This card came in just a bit higher than the first, 54-cents each, but still just as much of a bargain!
The last projects I have to share with you aren't necessarily holiday projects, but they showcase the versatility of Peaceful Poinsettia and how it can be used for all four of the seasons.

While poinsettias are usually only used in conjunction with Christmas projects, Melissa's main floral accent is neutral enough that by just changing out the colors, it can be used for other occasions as well. For my collection today, I decided to illustrate the four seasons. To help me execute my color goals, I decided to use the outline poinsettia paired with Copic markers.

All of these were so simple to make. Just a bit of Copic coloring on Kraft cardstock, followed by a few touches with a white gel pen. Super easy and fast!
