So here it is! The July Blog Hop! This month's challenge was to create a project using text backgrounds in a fun and unique way. One of my FAVORITE techniques of all time is heat emboss resist so I thought I would incorporate that into my project today.
I started by heat embossing some floral images from the great Papertrey basic, Beautiful Blooms. I stamped them in Versamark onto the text paper from the Chocolate Remix 6x6 pad. I then sprinkled on some of *the best stuff on earth* (a.k.a. Filigree Clear Embossing Powder) and heat to set.
Using a circular motion, I sponged Spring Moss ink over the top of the embossed flowers. I love the way the text shows through the embossed areas so vibrantly.

Here's my finished card. I used the QuicKutz A2 Plants Embossing Folder on the Classic Kraft background. I brushed our Vintage Cream ink pad over the dry embossed area to help highlight the details a bit.I turned the floral accent I made above on the side because I liked the way the vertical text created contrast with the horizontal nature of the card base. The sentiment is from Everyday Button Bits, stamped with Vintage Cream ink. A few Spring Moss Vintage Buttons are adhered to the sentiment strip with glue dots.
Oh, and a little zigzag stitching added for good measure!
So, as a special treat for this particular blog hop, I had a little helper while I was stamping. She wanted to make something meeting tonight's challenge too...
I don't know what's cuter, the card or that newly toothless grin!
Hannah used the text paper from the Raspberry Fizz Mix pad to create this beautiful flower. They were punched out using Marvy's flower punches. I really liked how she rotated the second layer of the bloom so that the text was running in an opposing direction, showing some contrast between the two. (I think I could learn quite a bit from her!) She made a few little snips and curled the petals a bit to make them more *real life* she said.
She added lots of buttons and drew a butterfly trail with crayon in the background as a finishing detail.
Hannah & I both hope you got inspired by our little post tonight! Enjoy the rest of the hop!
