One of the main ways that Passover is celebrated is with the traditional Passover dinner. The Seder plate is the center of attention during this holiday and each item placed on it is full of symbolism (you can read all about it HERE). While trying to design a Seder plate image, Wendy sent me a photo of the very one she uses in her home, a heirloom handed down from her grandmother. Her special plate is what inspired my version of this image. I decided to use this image to create a simple place setting that could be used for the meal.
I started by creating a little favor that could be placed at each seat. To begin, I discovered that our medium glassine bags fit perfectly in the Cuttlebug embossing folders! There is a bit that overhangs the top of the folder, but I just used this as a reference point to where I would fold the top over later. The bag of the bag will obviously be "debossed" rather than embossed.

I made a traditional special treat of Matzah crackers drizzled with dark chocolate to fill my Swiss Dot embossed bag.

I folded the top of th bag over and tied it shut with our new Gold Sheer Metallic Ribbon.

I wanted to create a special focal point for my favor, so I stamped the Seder plate image twice onto vintage cream cardstock. Once with Dark Chocolate ink and a second time with versamark, which I heat embossed with Gold Filigree embossing powder. I found that a 1-1/4 inch circle punch with punch just outside the solid outline of the plate, which I used on the Dark Chocolate imgae. And a 1-1/2 inch circle punch for the entire image, which I used on the gold embossed version. I layered the chocolate on top of the gold, so that the just the gold embossed dots radiated around the outside fo the dark chocolate image. A gold mini brad was set in the center to help bring everything together. Really stunning in real life!

I adhered the Seder Plate image along with a strip die-cut with the Labels Trio from Dark Chocolate cardstock. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold as well. I just adore the way this came together and look forward to using the glassine bags like this again soon for a different occasion!

Next up was the placecard! I used the same design for the focal point as was used on the favor. The base of the placecard was cut from Gold Shimmer cardstock, witha layer of our vellum cardstock that has been embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder as a second layer, mimicking the look of the glassine bag slightly. I created the name with Simple Alphabet.
..........................................................................................
I also stamped on a linen napkin using the same Dark Chocolate ink pad. I also went over the dotted outline of the image with our new ultra fine tip cold pen. All you have to do is iron it to heat set the image and you can wash & dry as needed without any worries!
..........................................................................................
I think this simple ensemble would be a nice addition to an already symbolic meal. I hope you have enjoyed all of today's posts and I look forward to sharing more with you tomorrow using another one of our new sets!
