I needed to make a few thank-you notes this morning for a few special people that helped to celebrate my birthday last week. There is something so gratifying about sending a homemade thank-you note. It makes me feel as though I am really showing my appreciation in a special, homemade sort of way. As my friend Valerie Pingree likes to say, a card is a hug with a fold in the middle! And you all know how much I like to give hugs!

I whipped up this quick card with Lisa Johnson's new Remember set. I love the artful way that the flowers are designed and the sentiment was SO perfect for the message I wanted to communicate with my cards. It is always SO nice when friends take time out of their busy schedules to remember you on your birthday! The background of my card was created by stamping the small hollow dots from Polka Dot Basics with white pigment ink onto Berry Sorbet cardstock. I then randomly stamped a dot of Pure Poppy in the centers of a few of the dots. This helps to create my element of three that I talk so much about. Red dots, red ribbon and red edges on the flower.

I love the way these floral accents turned out. I inked the solid flower image with Berry Sorbet and rolled the edges of the stamp in Pure Poppy. I think the rich pink & deep red color are a fun combination that I may try to incorporate into my designs more often! As an additional detail, I cut a few leaves from the Leaf Ribbon we started carrying, and used them as accents for the flower. (This ribbon is out of stock right now, but we have more coming next week) The sheen of the satin looks so nice with the matte finish of cardstock! I put a few dots from my favorite Clear Spica pen (Copic) in the center of the flower for a little sparkle. The sentiment is heat embossed with clear powder. I think the shine compliments the satin leaves really well.

I hope you are having a fabulous Saturday! Do you have anyone to say thank you to? Make time to whip up a few thank-you cards this weekend! Not only will the effort feed your creative soul, but you will be able to take the opportunity to thank someone for the kindness that was shown to you!
