Yesterday was Hannah's sixth birthday. Six. It seems like a bit of a milestone to me for some reason. Like turning six is the turning point when you aren't really considered a toddler any more. Clothes shopping resonates with this point since she now wears size 6, no longer a 5T.

Where are those cute, rosy, can't resist to pinch, chubby cheeks?

Where did the little ringlets go that she had when her hair first started coming in?

What happened to the adorable mumbling she used to do when she tried to talk with a pacifier in her mouth?

Instead, we now have a beautiful & bright young lady. Artistically talented & curious about the world around her. A first grader with the coming year laid out before her like a yellow brick road, ready for exploration. Such an amazing girl with so much love to share with the people around her. I don't think we could possibly be more proud.

At our house we have a special family birthday tradition. They get to decide on the dinner menu for their actual birthday. This usually results in some strange requests! Hannah decided we would have lasagna, watermelon & grapes, her three favorite foods at the moment. It's not the strangest birthday menu that we have ever served, but it is definitely unique! For her cake I got the instructions to create a "strawberry horse cake". She LOVED it!

As Hannah's gift from us this year, we gave her a room to call her own (previously my studio). We took her shopping and she got to pick out everything herself. New bed, new linens & pillows, paint, etc... and of course, following suit with her girly personality, everything she chose was pink! We put the finishing touches on the basics of the room yesterday afternoon so that she was able to sleep in her new bed on the night of her birthday. She was SO excited. It was if we had made one of her wildest dreams come true and I don't think anything could accurately capture how blissfully happy she was as she nodded of to sleep last night. What was the best birthday YOU had while you were growing up and why?
