On occassion, we ask customers what types of stamp sets they would like to see in the future from Papertrey. Every time this question has been posed, BABY is mentioned at least a few dozen times! I have been working on Bitty Baby Blessings for several months now, making sure it was the *perfect* baby set. I am just so thrilled to be able to present a theme that customers have been craving for so long from us!
I adore making baby gifts. It just makes me SO happy! There are so many generic gifts out there available to buy, but something homemade & from the heart can become a treasured keepsake for both mother & baby. I recently purchased a book that has fantastic baby gift ideas, one of which inspired today's project. "B is for Baby: 26 Projects from A to Z" by Suzonne Stirling is a fabulous reference to have on your crafting book shelf. I think I may have to make a few more projects from it in the next few weeks just for fun!
I chose to create a custom lullaby collection for baby. With the availability & ease of music downloads now, there are hundreds of choices available on the web. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon listening to various snippets and choosing your very favorites along with stumbling upon those that have sentimental value. Here are a few of my favorite downloads that fit into this genre. Some are even free!
Lullabies & Quiet Times Downloads
Jack Johnson (this is currently Owen & Hannah's favorite)
Brahms Lullaby
E-Z Tracks
Lullaby Themes for Sleepy Dreams
Lullabies for Little People
Songs for Rest Time
Baby Einstein Lullaby Classics
Now that I had compiled a beautiful lullaby cd, I knew I had to make some adorable packaging to present the disk in! I started with a piece of our Stamper's Select white cardstock cut to 10-5/8 inches by 5-1/4 inches. I scored a small spine in the center that measured 1/8 inch wide.
Next I used the largest die from the Large Standard Square Nestibilities set to add a nice embossed detail to the cover of my booklet. (If you have never done this technique, you can see how to do it here).
I wanted the booklet to have a ribbon closure, so I adhered two Lavender Moon satin ribbon strips to the interior. (More to details to come later about our NEW May color!)
To cover the ribbon, I lined the booklet with some fun polka dot paper that will be included in the Bitty Baby Blessings patterned paper collection. (More details about this will be discussed later this week as well!)
...I also added a strip of scalloped Lavender Moon cardstock to form a pocket for the disk. The opposing side of the booklet features the play list. If any of the lullabies have sentimental value to you, this would be the perfect place to add a few notes as to why you chose them.
..To finish the cover, I cut another piece of polka dot paper sized to fit within the boundaries of the embossed frame. I die cut & embossed the circle from white cardstock and stamped the image that you saw in Sneak Peek #1 earlier this week. An adorable little elephant. Maybe he/she needs a name? Ellie perhaps! Ellie is stamped in Lavender Moon ink. I added the "Sweet Little Baby" sentiment in Spring Moss. Two little star brads finish it off. The finished project is an adorable little gift that anyone would surely appreciate. The same booklet design could be used as a birth announcement, holding a disk of pictures of the new arrival! I hope you have enjoyed today's project and end up creating your very own for a new little someone special in your life! Tomorrow I have even more to share with you, so be to stop back by and visit!
