When thinking about trends today, "clear" is definitely where it's at. You can find clear buttons, clear mini-albums, transparencies and more for our industry alone. If you look at a lot of project packaging in stores, "clear" is a characteristic that is incorporated into many of them. I gave a few ladies on the design team the challenge to pair their favorite clear product with our new Everyday Blessings patterned paper. Here are the other participants...
I decided to utilize a unique transparency card base that has been floating around in my head for a while now. To start, I cut a piece of transparency to measure 4.25 x 11. I scored it @ 5" & 10". It basically forms a matchbook of sorts. I also created a white card base measuring 4 x 9.75, scored in half.
I covered the front of cardstock base with varying strips of 6x6 Everyday Blessings paper. I love using little bits at a time. One pad can make SO many cards!
This is an example of how to insert the cardstock base into the transparency base. As you can see, the spine of the card is placed in the short tab of the transparency matchbook.
Next, I punched three holes along this edge using a 1/16th inch hole punch.
I was then able to insert three silver brads to help hold everything together.
I added a silver embossed sentiment (from Out on a Limb) to the front of the transparency cover.
Here is what the finished product looks like from the front. If you look closely, you will see that I added a piece of white cardstock on the opposite side of the transparency, acting as a mat around the sentiment. It was adhered to the inside so that it covered up the adhesive from adhering the sentiment to the front.
Here is the transparency layer opened.
And then the cardstock cover opened. I added a happy birthday sentiment to the inside, accenting the area which I will later write a short note and sign my name. I really like the way this turned out. You could use this design to create a mini album too, just by adding more pages. So many fun possibilities!
So what are you waiting for? With all of the inspiration you have received from myself and the rest of the team, you should have more than enough ideas to get you started with the clear products that you already have in your stash! I would love to see what you create! Please be sure to leave a link to your project in the comments section!
