Well, I think it's official! Stamp-a-faire 2012 was a great success and fun was had by all! One of the best parts of the event was all of the wonderful memories made! Some of you captured those moments and shared them with the world! I have assembled just a few of those photos in a little slideshow to commemorate our first online event. Also, to serve as a thank you to all of the wonderful customers who enthusiastically participated all day...
I also have a couple customer videos from the day to share with you. They just made me smile ear to ear, and I know you will thoroughly enjoy them too!
This one is from Tracey & Linda, coming to us from Perth, Australia. The slideshow they put together really summarizes their whole experience nicely. Because of their location all the way on the other side of the globe, it makes it even more special to see their experience!
The enthusiastic stamping duo Anna & Ginger from northwest of England created a fun video while they were trying the Marbleized Tie-Dye technique with shaving cream. The video (as well as their fantastic accents!) reminded me that this event really brought people together from around the world. How many of you were trying out this technique at the same time as Anna & Ginger? Dozens or perhaps hundreds!
As a reminder, all of the videos & tutorials from Stamp-a-faire will be permanently archived here on the blog. They can all be accessed with the "Stamp-a-faire" link in the right side bar under Categories. I have also summarized them below for you for easy reference...
Before I sign off, I wanted to be sure and mention that ALL of the winners from the Stamp-a-faire event have officially been listed. You can find the link to the list below:
All good things have to come to a close and this post is our official "wrap-up" for the night. We hope that all of you have enjoyed the festivities today!
Don't forget! You have until Monday, noon EST to enter all the challenges! So feel free to revisit all the content we have shared today and create some more projects tomorrow!
We wanted to give all of you another opportunity to share your day with other stampers from around the world. Below you will find a Farewell InLinkz List that you can add to if you like. This allows customers to share projects they might of made that did not fit into a challenge or "departure" pics, with groups or individuals holding all of the projects they made that day, etc... We can't wait to see more of the fun you had!
The entire team and I also want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for participating in this new online event. It wouldn't have been nearly as successful without your participation, and all of us our grateful that you chose to spend the day with us. Here is a little farewell from all of us to you...
Thank you again for joining us! We leave you with the final Farewell InLinkz List!
We wanted to give all of you another opportunity to share your day with other stampers from around the world. Below you will find a Farewell InLinkz List that you can add to if you like. You can share extra projects, "departure" pics, your group holding all of their creations, you in your studio with that messy craft desk, or whatever else you want to share! We would also just love to hear about all of your fun in the comments section! We will be giving away two $25 PTI gift certificates! One for an InLinkz post and one for a comment!
Earlier in the week, we had customers post projects that they had created in the past that they felt needed just a *little* something. Design Team Members selected a project to give "first-aid" to and makeover the project, making changes that they feel benefits the card. We are excited to showcase the team selections and their presentations of their new projects featuring the changes. Here you go!
I chose to work with a project created by Terri E. Here is the video she put together showing you the "first aid" I administered to the card.
And here are some still shots of my completed project.
I really like the way that Terri used the frame from Tag-its #10 on her background, but I felt like the bold contrast of black on white kind of took away from the focal point. I opted to make the background less prominent and added the frame to Pure Poppy cardstock with VersaMark ink.
I just loved the way Terri used the banner image with the larger stamped "75th", but thought that they just weren't quite prominent enough to take center stage. I opted to switch out the stamped "75th" for one that was die-cut so that I could really pop it up and make it the main focus. Because of the large numbers, I also needed to use a larger circle to ground everything. So I die-cut the Limitless Layers 2.5" circle from white cardstock and the scalloped layer from Hawaiian Shores. I used the same banner image that Terri did, stamped in Noir Black Palette ink which was colored with Copic Markers. The "75" was die-cut with the By the Numbers dies from Summer Sunrise polka dot paper. The "th" from Simply Chartreuse cardstock using the Block Alphabet dies. The numbers & letters were adhered with foam tape so that they could be popped up from the cover for dimension.
As you can see, I maintained many of the same design aspects that Terri used on her original card. Now that you have seen the tips & tricks I had to offer to Terri, take a peek at what the rest of the team has done!

It's always fun to just "play" with your supplies an experiment with really artsy techniques. Exercises like that can really get the creativity moving at full throttle! Today I have prepared a really cool collection of three techniques that you can use to incorporate tie-dye effects into your backgrounds.
Your challenge is to create a tie-dye background using one of the techniques showcased in the video below.
I have created a set of three tutorials to help show you step-by-step how to create these fun & amazing backgrounds! I think you will have a lot of fun with them AND love the results!
My first project uses just some basic supplies that you most likely already have on hand.
DYE INK TIE-DYE SUPPLIES NEEDED:
3 dye ink pads (I am using Aqua Mist, Blueberry Sky & Winter Wisteria, however you can use alternate colors as long as you have a light, medium & dark)
small paintbrush
water
Without further ado, here is the video showcasing the Dye Ink Tie-Dye technique.
Here are some still shots of my first tie dye project...
Next I have a technique that results in a much more saturated look using Copic Markers (or any alcohol-base markers) along with rubbing alcohol.
COPICS TIE-DYE SUPPLIES NEEDED:
3 Copic Markers or any alcohol-based markers (I used YR12, RV19, YR18)
rubbing alcohol
small paintbrush
Here is the video showcasing this Copic Tie-Dye technique.
Here are some still shots of this fun tie-dye project...
For my last technique, I adapted a marbleized-type craft I learned years ago in Girl Scouts. Using ordinary shaving cream as a stabilizer, drops of ink "float" on the surface and can be swirled to create unique tie-dye backgrounds.
MARBLEIZED TIE-DYE SUPPLIES NEEDED:
shaving cream (be sure you use regular shaving cream, not shave gel)
2 re-inkers or food coloring (I specifically used Hawaiian Shores & New Leaf)
a small paintbrush or stick
And here is the video showcasing this the Marbleized Tie-Dye technique.
Here are some still shots of my last tie-dye project...
We hope you enjoyed this little "artsy" presentation and learned a thing or two that you are anxious to try! A few of the Design Team members decided to play along with this challenge as well! Here are their results!
Now it's time for YOU to get inky and give one of these techniques a shot so we can see your results!
--Create your own tie-dye background using one of the tutorials showcased above. Your project must incorporate at least one Papertrey product and the tie-dye background you create.
--Post your project on your blog, in your gallery or on any other photo-hosting site (such as photobucket or flickr).
--Add your project to the InLinkz list below.
--You will have until noon EST, Monday, July 23rd, to add your link to the list to be eligible to win. And you can enter as many times as you like.

Good luck to everyone and we look forward to seeing your projects!
It can be extremely rewarding to use your paper supplies to create something other than a card. For the next challenge, I wanted to show you how you can use just a few basic supplies to create beautiful, customized bracelets from paper.
Your challenge is to create a bracelet with handmade paper beads. Customers that are meeting in groups are encouraged to initial the beads they make and trade them with one another to create a "friendship" bracelet.
Here is a basic list of supplies you need to complete this project:
(click on the image above to enlarge)
If you do not have the Beautiful Beads die or the Beautiful Beads papers, you can still recreate this look. Just cut elongated triangles from origami weight paper or anything lightweight. This could be pages torn from a magazine, old maps, wrapping paper or anything else you can dream up! The triangles should be about 3/4" on the widest end and about 5-1/2" long.
Here's a look at the tutorial I prepared for you to showcase this handmade paper bead technique. I apologize in advance that's it's a tad bit difficult to see the actual beading process in the video! Beads are so tiny and it was difficult to capture that portion on video. But I think you will get the basic steps and be able to execute your project! Enjoy!
As you can see, the beads are super easy to make, especially with the skewer! It is also important to note, there are a million and one ways that you could make a bracelet. You could change up the clasps. You could use elastic twine and forego the clasp all together. You can very the shapes, sizes, colors of the beads used between the paper beads. Literally, the sky's the limit! You can make it as easy or as complex as you wish!
Here are some still shots of the finished bracelet.
We hope you can appreciate just how easy this is and enjoy the process of creating jewelry with your paper crafting supplies! Talk about an inexpensive AND impressive gift! Perfect for the upcoming holidays!
--Create your own bracelet made from handmade paper beads.

It is always fun to see what a group of people can do individually with a specific set of limited supplies. The various outcomes can be SO diverse! Today you will get to see what the team creates with just a handful of basic supplies, as well as demonstrate some additional project ideas with this year's Stamp-a-faire set, Natural Beauties!
Your challenge is to create a project using the limited supply list provided below. You can choose to re-create one of the designer projects or design something all your own.
These are the specifics that were provided to each of the team members. You can use as many or as few as you like and any inks you prefer. You may also add in dies, twine or glitter if you desire. Please do not use any other products besides those listed below, however you can substitute the Natural Beauties stamp set for another floral set if need be.
STAMPS: Natural Beauties only (or another floral set as a substitute if needed)
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse
RIBBON: Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot
BUTTONS: Simply Chartreuse
Using the supplies from the challenge, I decided to create a tall card and make my own background paper.
I stamped my block of white cardstock with just the detail layer of the flowers from Natural Beauties. The larger ones in Hawaiian Shores and the smaller ones in Aqua Mist.
I added leaves in Simply Chartreuse and centers to the large flowers with Summer Sunrise.
The sentiment is stamped on a block of Simply Chartreuse using Ripe Avocado ink. I used the Pinking Shears die to add borders of Hawaiian Shores cardstock. Simply Chartreuse buttons tied with twine flank either side of the sentiment.
Here is a specific list of my measurements and the extra supplies I added into the mix.
Aqua Mist card base (8" x 6-1/2", scored at 4" on the 8" side)
Stamper's Select White background block (5-3/4" x 3")
Simply Chartreuse sentiment block (3" x 1-3/4")
Hawaiian Shores strips for use with Pinking Shears border die
Here's a look at what the team has prepared for the Limited Supply Challenge! Click through to each of their blogs to get specific cutting measurements if you would like to recreate one of their projects!
We hope one of these presentations helps you to look at a few of your supplies differently and even inspire you to create with Natural Beauties!
