Introducing Guide Lines Paper Collection

Guide_lines_paper_collection_4 I am thrilled to be able to introduce the Guide Lines Paper Collection to you today!  (Be sure to click the photo to enlarge and take in all the details!)  The rich purple hues are reminiscent of Spain and the hand-painted tiles found there.  And of course the designs themselves are taken right from the coordinating Guide Lines background set!  As an extra special touch this month we decided to print this particular collection on rich cream paper, similar in color to the Vintage Cream cardstock that we now carry.  The end result is a luxurious, rich paper that will rapidly become one of your favorites!  With color pulled from both Plum Pudding & Lavender Moon, you will find dozen of design possibilities.

......................................................................................

Little_purple_birdie_card_2 Here is a quick little card I put together using both the Guide Lines Paper Collection & Candice's all-new Birds of a Feather set.  I combined two of my favorite patterns from the collection to create my background.  A little stitching detail was added as well.  The center strip is made from Lavender Moon cardstock, featuring a scored accent line at the top and bottom that I did with my Scor-Pal.  I trimmed a piece of the striped paper to fit in between the two score lines.  I finished the strip by adding a little stitching too.  I just love the three of these particular patterns together!  Such a great combination!  I utilized the 6x6 card makers scale for this particular project.  Don't forget that it is also available in 12x12, which features the same pattern only twice as large in scale!  That really increases your options!

...................................................................................

Birdie_closeup_2 I really adore the little chick in this stamp set!  Such a cutie!  And the sentiment is perfect for so many occasions!  To create this little accent detail, I formed a loop with my stitched ribbon and fastened it in place with a plum brad & polka dot flower.  Notice that I allowed the loop to extend over the edge of the card to help break up the "square-ness" of it.  The opposite end of the ribbon that runs under the chick accent is trimmed in a "v" for a special touch.  I love how quickly this card came together.  Just by mixing & matching the different birds & sentiments with the same layout I could have dozens of cards made in no time for my stash!  I hope you enjoyed this little peek at the new patterned paper for June.  I'll be back a little later today with a few more projects using some of the other sets waiting to be released tonight!  Thanks for stopping by!

Introducing Birds of a Feather

Candices_headshot_2 Candice Aguilar has been at it again, bringing you her version of a trendy theme, BIRDS!  Many stamping companies have introduced bird images in one shape or another in recent months, but I feel that Candice's version is presented from a refreshingly unique point of view.  I am anxious for you to be able to see the set in full, because it is impossible to do the set justice until you can see the big picture!

.........................................................................................
Guide_lines_paper I felt like going a little vintage tonight and thought it would be the perfect style for a baby card I had envisioned doing with this set.  It is a pocket card, so I began with the pocket.  I cut a 3.75 x 4.25 block of Vintage Cream cardstock.  I wanted to add pattern to it so I used my new favorite background set, Guide Lines (on sale Sunday, June 15th) along with Aqua Mist ink.  I created the pattern on the diagonal for some extra visual interest. (You can click to enlarge and see the detail.)

.........................................................................................
Guide_lines_paper_with_piercing I wanted to add some piercing details along the grid lines, so I pulled the thread out of my sewing machine and *stitched* as usual.  I was really happy with how easy it was and how great the results were.  (You can click to enlarge and see the detail a bit more here too!)

.........................................................................................
Scoring_pocket Next, I scored 1/2-inch on three sides of the square using my Scor-Pal.  I love my Scor-Pal.  So much so, that Papertrey is now *officially* a proud retailer of this amazing tool!  That's right!  As of the 15th, you can officially take the plunge and purchase your very own Scor-Pal from us!  Yay!  (add a stamp set to that purchase and you'll have FREE shipping in the US!)

.........................................................................................
Finished_pocket After I was done with my scoring, I nipped the two bottom corners of the tabs and creased.  I now have my pocket!

.........................................................................................
Scoring_strip_accent_lines I wanted to create one more detail for my project using the Scor-Pal, and that was a decorative accent strip using Aqua Mist cardstock.  I cut my cardstock strip to be 1.25 inches wide and centered a 1/2' section of the Scor-Pal in the middle of the strip.  I then just slid the tip of the scoring tool (included with the scoring board) down the  scoring channels.

.........................................................................................
Finished_scored_strip I roughed up the edges of the strip with my fingernail to help emphasize my vintage theme.  Here's the finished look after I completed the scoring and flipped my mini masterpiece over!  I just LOVE how defined the score lines are when using the Scor-Pal, even with our heavyweight cardstock.  I have yet to find anything else that does such a great job.  And really, in the end, the product is twice as valuable if I can use it to score my projects AND use it to create accents like this!

.........................................................................................
Just_hatched_pocket_card Here is my finished project. (Don't forget, you can click to enlarge!) I love, LOVE, love the combination of the Vintage Cream, Aqua Mist & Classic Kraft cardstocks.  I think the contrasting polka dot pattern & Guide Lines creation are really striking as well.  I am beyond excited to see what else can be done with Guide Lines once it has circulated around our customer base after this release!

.......................................................................................
Nest_closeup If there is one image in particular that I have been very anxious to play with from this set, it would be the birds nest & eggs!   Aren't they just incredibly adorable!!!  I love them.  The eggs & nest are separate images so it is super easy to use two colors.

........................................................................................
Just_hatched_tag Candice picked out the BEST fonts for the sentiments in this set.  You will find them to be just the perfect balance of trendy-retro-classic.  "Just Hatched" was the perfect catch phrase for this baby card!  I also layered a sparrow image from the set underneath the sentiment.   Loving the way that turned out.

.......................................................................................
Just_hatched_photo_tag A tag pulls out of the pocket I created.  It is the perfect place to include a photo, poem or special note.   This happens to be a picture of MY little ones over two years ago when Ethan was born!  Hard to believe it was that long ago!  I hope you enjoyed today's project!  One more sneak peek tonight and than tomorrow is the BIG day!  And on a Saturday night nonetheless!  Party time!  Yay! ........................................................................
