Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
First up is a card to give to my grandmother for Mother's Day this year using Cutting Garden. I love that this "grandma" specific sentiment is included in Boutique Borders: Mother set. I began this card by stamping the Smokey Shadow background with Polka Dot Basics II using True Black ink. I've always loved the way black patterns pop against a Smokey Shadow background.
I die-cut all of the flowers from Autumn Rose cardstock and stamped them with their coordinating images in Scarlet Jewel ink. Don't you just LOVE all of those layers of petals! The detail that Dawn has incorporated into the flowers is just incredible! The leaves were die-cut from Spring Moss cardstock and stamped with the coordinating images in Simply Chartreuse. I arranged everything onto the card front and finished the flowers with a few small black rhinestones.
I die-cut the frame from Boutique Borders: Mother using white cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating image in Scarlet Jewel. The sentiment, from the same set, was added using True Black.
Everything was adhered to a True Black card base. I am thrilled with the size of this frame. It is perfectly scaled for A2 cards, while having an opening that will coordinate with lots of other sentiments from previously released sets!
Now for a softer approach using the same set. I began with Rustic White cardstock and stamped the flowers in Lavender Moon, Melon Berry and Sweet Blush. I also added leaves using Spring Moss.
I used a watercolor brush and some water to wet down the areas around the flowers. Using just a a few drops of re-inkers from a palette, I added a little extra color to give the flowers an artistic feel.
The sentiment, also from Cutting Garden, was added to a Classic Kraft strip using Fresh Snow ink. Everything was mounted onto a Lavender Moon card base.
I have another Mother's Day project for you, this one a bit more rustic in style.
I stamped the flowers from Cutting Garden in Canyon Clay, die-cutting one of them so I could create dimension with some foam tape. The leaves were stamped twice with each inking using Simply Chartreuse.
I die-cut a strip from the NEW! Burlap Craft Roll using the Large Scallop Border die. Just love the texture that this adds to my project! I stitched several Dark Chocolate buttons across the border strip.
The sentiment, from Boutique Borders: Mother. was added in Dark Chocolate. The project was finished with a Classic Kraft card base.
My next project is bright and bold, not to mention it also shows off the new Zing! Embossing Powders we are carrying! I used this GORGEOUS flowered chevron-esque stripe from Melissa's new My Mother, My Friend set. One at a time, I stamped and heat embossed each bold stripe. From top to bottom I used the following colors of Zing!...
- Rouge
- Apricot
- Mustard
- Cricket
- Leaf
- Aqua
After the heat embossing was completed, I stitched a button the same color as the stripe to the far right of the card front. *Sigh*... there is just something about rainbow color schemes, such as this one, that make me so incredibly happy!
I added one of my favorite sentiments from My Mother, My Friend using White Filigree Embossing Powder.
This card was finished simply by adding it to a white card base.
Next, I wanted to create something with a bit of a softer look using My Mother, My Friend.
I pulled out my favorite grass image from the previously released Honey Bees, and stamped it along the bottom of this Rustic Cream block using Ripe Avocado ink. I stamped each grass sprig image twice with each re-inking to get the two-tone effect. I then added the flowers from My Mother, My Friend using Summer Sunrise, Ocean Todes & Aqua Mist inks.
I die-cut the frame using one of the dies from the My Mother, My Friend collection with Aqua Mist cardstock. I stamped it with one of the coordinating images using Ocean Tides ink. The accent strips were created with Harvest Gold cardstock and stamped with A Little Argyle using Summer Sunrise ink.
Everything was adhered to a Classic Kraft card base.
For my last project I wanted to experiment with combining a few of my favorite previously released sets with the amazing new florals from My Mother, My Friend.
I stamped these tall stems using New Leaf ink, stamping twice before re-inking again.
For the flowers at the top, I stamped the sold portion in Aqua Mist repeatedly for an artistic look. Then went back in with the little individual bloom in Hawaiian Shores to add detail to each clump. When it was all said and done, I thought these very much looked like hydrangeas of some sort. What do you think? I added the sentiment from Fancy Folk Art in True Black. The birds from Little Bitty Bird were added as well. Some Hawaiian Shores striped paper cut on the angle was added to the New Leaf card base to help ground the images. A few snippets of Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot ribbon as well as a matching button help to finish off the card.
