Make It Monday #89: Creating Windows for Floating Images

Welcome to another edition of Make It Monday!  Today I am going to share with you how to create a "floating image" and a shaped window to adhere it to.  It is so easy, yet the results are so fun and unique!  Enjoy the video!

October 2012 Blog Hop

Welcome everyone to the October 2012 Papertrey Blog Hop!  We are so thrilled to see you here!  First, the challenge...

This month it is all about breaking out of your comfort zone and trying out some non-traditional color schemes for a holiday card or tag!  Sometimes it is so easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes time to paper craft fro the holidays, so here is your chance to let loose, have fun and try something brand new!  I have put together six non-traditional holiday color schemes together for you above.  Pick one that inspires you and try your hand at using it as a starting point for a special holiday themed project!  Keep in mind, you don't have to use all four colors for any given scheme, just go with the flow and use as many or as few as you like!

I have included an inlinkz list below for you to add your link to your blog hop project.  This type of link list will allow you to select a thumbnail to go along with your link, making it easy to go back and find a project later that might have perked your interest.  

You have until 11:30pm EST tonight (October 25th) to add your link to this list.  THREE random participants will be selected to win a $25 PTI Gift Certificate to spend however they choose.  They will be announced and highlighted here, on my blog, tomorrow morning.  We look forward to seeing all of your creations!

Erin Thiem created these beautiful chevron style ornaments using her selected color scheme.  I love the subtle texture she added behind the ornaments as well as the way she used an extra wide sentiment to help balance out the width of the ornaments.

Maria F. placed a colorful wreath created with Wreath for All Seasons within an embossed star for her simple one layer card.  The strip of houndstooth she added underneath the star really helps to ground the sentiment.

Anna Norcross used Wreath for All Seasons as well only she created a stunning tag, perfect for holiday packaging with it.  I love how she tucked the smaller sentiment inside the wreath.

Tomorrow we are excited to present the BIG monthly Blog Hop that Papertrey Ink hosts for all of its talented customers to show off their skills! The Blog Hop is an ALL DAY EVENT!  An Inlinkz list will be posted here on my blog at 10am EST and you can add your link anytime up until 11:30pm EST.  And don't worry if you aren't going to get a chance to make a project and play along, there will be a contest for non-participants as well over in our forum in the designated thread. One additional note; we unfortunately will no longer be carrying the DVD cases. DVD cases or clear stamp folders can still be used as a storage option, just purchased elsewhere. It has not been cost effective for us to sell the DVD cases because there are so many issues with breakage and having to provide replacements. 

I personally will be purchasing the DVD cases from tapeonline.com for my storage needs because I like having individual cases for everything. Many people do however prefer the clear Tim Holtz folders too. So, just make a choice for what fits your space and your needs.
